When is the popularity of autism, Asperger's symdrome, etc going to die off?
Well, he does show some signs, like the rocking thing, although it's fairly mild. Personally, I think he's just an asshole. I do recall seeing one dev at MS who did the rocking thing to the point where it was obvious to me, and my only training is that my mother is a RN who has Neurologist friends.
Mostly because IT doesn't like working every weekend from 1 AM to 8 AM Sunday mornings, and because most enterprise shiteware is so poorly documented and buggy that keeping it patched is a huge risk, almost as much as not patching it.
Better contract the service windows - it'd really suck to outsource bug tracking, only to have them decide that 2pm on a tuesday is a great time to upgrade to v1.0b, which has a couple gotchas (no we aren't rolling back - it mostly works).
As a general rule, with every extra layer "in the middle", you add cost. (EG. A given firm performing H.R. duties will still have to pay market-rate salaries to their employees performing those duties. That means, to turn a profit, they have to charge YOU over and above that salary they're paying out.)
However, a paycheck firm can ammortize the tax law changes over far more people and keep costs down that way - volume can drive down unit costs. This means that you could end up paying less.
(it's a joke. i know the janitors don't really have access to the safe and the server room)
It is a joke, and yes, they do often have access. I'm sure they still make $7/hr and have no concept of what the machines do. They sure are loud and annoying, though...
"do you trust this company with your private info and the contents of your laptop? Under Sarbanes oxley, if they screw up it's YOUR HEAD that rolls not theirs..."
I checked washington state, and it didn't mention anything about that. It mainly dealt with taxation issues and fees. Do you have an example where it actually does?
Aren't we all waiting to become drooling, grinning wireheads, spending 23 and a half hours a day with current going straight to the pleasure center of our brains.
Speak for yourself. I just want a way to aim my car-mounted LMG while I drive.
Ah yes, the federation of small banks pretending to be one big bank. I've never opened an account there, but I've closed two so far. I believe I'll be closing three more in a year or two.
Sounds like someone is borrowing your identity. I'd do what you did, then disclaim all responsibility in writing - send a certified letter demanding that they close the account. I'm not a lawyer, but I expect this could come in handy if the cards start showing charges in the future.
I guess that begs the question of whether certifying a wifi device is a months long affair. I assume that you only need to certify the antenna assembly once, though.
And their CEO tended to dress in women's clothing, right? I doubt any laws would really bother that group, since they don't pay attention to them anyway.
Copyright didn't exist until about 250 years ago. The fruits of your labor generally apply to being able to sell what you create and be paid for performance. Copyright extends that to giving you domain over the reproductions of your work, which isn't exactly a first principle. The argument for creating it is that it will increase the number of works created, which it has, and not that you have a natural right to it.
The plural of anecdote is not statistic. If you really want to protect your daughters (apparently, sons get to fend for themselves), then teach them general street smarts and raise them to use common sense. Stuff like drowning and death by misadventure far outweigh getting abducted by a stranger.
Did you miss the part where nobody complained about the DJ's activities? Copyright is a civil matter, so why involve the cops if nobody cares about it?
Demanding access to every detail of your kid's life is not taking responsibility. It only ensures that they hate you and shut you out of their life as soon as they can manage.

short term Iraq related technology particularly IED countermeasures.
Well, the best countermeasure is to be somewhere else. Might I suggest Oregon?

Finally, a reason to like SOX.

Yes, I know companies donate to charities now. However, they only do so to the extent that the PR yields a net increase in shareholder value, by law.
Where do you get this stuff? There's no law limiting corporations to only do things that yield a profit.
I really have programmed in over 20 languages
And I've driven over 20 kinds of car. So what?
Ah yes, the federation of small banks pretending to be one big bank. I've never opened an account there, but I've closed two so far. I believe I'll be closing three more in a year or two.
Care to share the name of the bank so I can avoid them?

Did you get a real card or were you merely preapproved?
Ever hear about a credit card breach involving Amazon? Me neither. I'm curious exactly how Amazon screwed you.
Wifi is a bit less regulated than GSM phones, don't you think?
It's called metal hydride, and it works just fine.

I wonder if it was because she was a woman, just to tie in to a prior thread.

Yes, it's currently a criminal act to infringe a copyright
Sorry, but you're full of shit. It's only criminal when done on a large scale for money.
