  4. redhat linux for business? on Redhat's New Web Site · · Score: 1

Now Redhat looks like the biggest joke in town. Take this for example:

This stuff will bring linux to the mainstream? People will look at redhat.com and associate the linux community with the junky slashdot posts (kde/gnome/gpl/bsd rulez/sux first! not! etc)
I've now lost all respect for Redhat and because Redhat is portrayed as the official linux, it will hurt linux' image.

  5. Bob Young on Bob Young on "A New Economic Model" · · Score: 1

Isn't it amazing how much money you can make by selling free stuff! I should try it too one day. However, in the end I think it will be a fad just like MLM and all those other get-rich-quick schemes. You have to be a little proprietary if you want to make money in the long run. If all you offer is support, then any big company such as Corel or Oracle or IBM can sell your distro and offer even better support and you're knocked out completely.

  6. Opera's quality on Opera for Linux · · Score: 1

Get over this GPL purity. You won't get a GPL browser that comes close to Mozilla (netscape 5 will probably include proprietary crypto code) or Opera.

I remember when AOL took over Netscape and everyone was itching for another choice such as Opera. Now I guess for some people Opera is worse than AOL because the unfinished mozilla is open source. Enough of this bickering. Opera is good because is means we have more choice and competition.
