Agreed.. but the difference, at least in my eyes, isn't so much what you say but how you say it. Using phrases and words such as "too stupid", "inexperience and ignorance", and "inferior tool", even if true, trigger 'flamebait' in a lot of peoples minds. You brought up some good points.. and I am pretty sure if you had avoided phrases like this, you probably wouldn't have gotten modded down as flamebait. For example, instead of saying "To claim that Makefiles are inherently evil just because the Ant authors are too stupid to handle the tab vs. space issue in makefiles just underscores their inexperience and ignorance.", you could say "To claim that Makefiles are inherently evil just because of the tab vs. space issue in makefiles is not a well founded argument in my eyes, since this issue is very easy to avoid once you have a little bit of experience with makefiles. I am curious how much time the Ant developers spent working with makefiles before they came to this conclusion."
As I understand it, CDs are not recyclable, because of the layer of metal sandwitched between two pieces of plastic, that isn't very easily separatable.

Using Linux software was like a box of chocolates.
I think Slashdot should either ditch the Borg bill (maybe *gasp* a Microsoft logo), or mock up the open source mascots in a similar fashion. I find it fairly hard to take a story seriously when the topic icon shows a pretty blatant bias against said company.
It's futile trying to convince him. Obviously money is useless and we should eat and live in free information instead.

Science is the study of fact. Religion aims to fill a spiritual need. When they start preaching about things like capacitors hooked in parallel in church, or teaching me about forgiveness and understanding in computer science class, let me know.;)
I guess that explains why when I go to play DDR on weekends (and I'm on the east coast even), that the machine is swamped and there is often at least a 20 minute wait to get a game? Just in case you are thinking where I am is the exception and not the rule, you may be interested to see that there are over 1325 DDR machines in the US alone. Three out of the four places I usually play at have had to buy a second machine to accomodate the demand. So I guess if that's your definition of 'never really happened'...:)
Just so you are aware, there is a typo in the second line of your sig.. Who is Jack Valenti, by the way? He sounds like someone with some serious issues..
It's no more of a good business model than building kit cars, or designing Quake levels.. but who cares? What counts is that you enjoy it and get something from it. If you can also make it into a business model, all the more power to you.
I'm not so sure.. only a certain portion of the population uses computers.. and of those, only a certain amount type enough to type quickly.. as time passes though, I think you are right, we will see a general increase in typing speed.
Yeah.. I have seen that sentiment echoed by many in their posts, so you're not alone there.

No.. you were modded down as Flamebait for posting flamebait. Not like it's anything to cry over.

Your post is teh suck^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H inaccurate.
Maybe he should have used the ever magical "^U"?
You mean we can't just pull assumptions and hearsay out of our ass and post it as fact? Dammit..
Too bad the two concepts can't be rolled into one.. I bet a lot of geeks would like free beer with their free software.

What was that? I heard this annoying buzzing but I couldn't quite make it out.
You are more wrong than you would ever like to believe... :D
Am I leaving some out?
Gitaroo Man. =)

He had similiar motivations.. except instead of trying to piss people off, he is trying to piss RMS off.
Either you are extremely simple-minded, or have absolutely no trolling ability.
Please show me somewhere.. ANYwhere Microsoft has claimed Windows XP is the most stable OS ever.
Yeah, that's what I thought.
Also, have you ever used XP? Do you have any basis for your comment?
