because I doubt the author has ever used heroine. I have used heroine and I've played everquest, there is not comparison. Haroine is a lot more enjoyable and a lot more addictive. The same goes for cocaine. I think that games can be addictive along the same lines as coffee or cigarettes but not hard drugs. The biggest issue is there is no withdraw, if I take an everquest freak and make him stop playing, he will get better every minute, but the heroine addict will keep getting worse as withdrawl sets in. If someone really has a problem with games my best advice is to take up drugs, you will make a lot of friends and you won't think about the games any more.
A lot of people in Japan were angry about the last 2 episodes. There was such a public outcry that three movies were made, the last two of them gave a more finite and clear ending to the story.
I've been on IRC for a while and from what I've seen the bulk of it is piracy and porn. I know there are some legitimate discussion groups but lets not kid ourselves here, IRC is not exactly innocent.
I don't want to hear you talking about the price of software. No one pays for software except businesses. Everyone I know, whether they are a tech person or gets all of their software for free somehow, this trend is going to continue in the future as people become better with technology.
Also you said Microsoft's business practices were not capitalistic, and I'll admit that tying the popular OS to IE and other things is wrong, but most of these products are free anyway. Microsoft got rich by making the best OS, and by best I don't mean the most stable, I mean the easiest to use and most compatable. If giving the people what they want is wrong, the MS is guilty.
Using this chips for ID is a horrible idea. You could (relitivly) easily make a copy of someone's chip to impersonate them. It wouldn't be too hard to remove your chip and give it to someone else (it dosn't have to be inside them, they just have to be holding it).
For purposes of identification I think things like finger printing, retinal scans, and good old photo ID are the best choice.
in universities. Its unix that you'll find there. I don't know about the rest but Waterloo dosn't offer a single Linux course and although we are forced to use it in class, no one uses it at home at the risk of being left out of the constant LAN gaming.
Illegal P2P software isn't going anywhere anytime soon and that is is the only way anyone would consider a legal P2P. What baffles me is who puts money into these things? Which ever financial advisers told people to invest in these services should lose their license (do they they even have licenses?) The only way something like this could possible last long enough to take off is if it had a rich parent (Microsoft/AOL) to cover the losses over the years (and years) that it would take to finally become profitable. Launching these services with small startups is simple insane.

how long until we see that text based quake 3 on the sed!
I live in China where about 75% of websites are blocked by the government. The only reason me and a lot of the techy people are able to visit slashdot is by using a public proxy, and if the police found out we could get a large fine!
Microsoft does not sell hotmail addresses, if for no other reason than no one would buy them. The reason your random hotmail addresses are quickly harvest and spammed is because of programs spammers use to collect e-mail addresses. Basically the program just listens to all the traffic that goes through hotmail and when a new address is created it logs it. One of my friends had one of these programs which he used to get new addresses to spam for his new website. I really don't think that a lot of the big e-mail providers sell addresses, if it was ever proven it would be a public relations nightmare.
... anime in Japan is actually targeted at a much younger audience than in America. For example Cowboy Bebop was presented by Cartoon Network and targeted at 16-18 year olds (source: cartoonnetwork.com), its Japanese release target a much younger audience of 10-12 year olds (source: Newtypes Magazine). Japanese children are much more mature than american children and they do grow out of anime and manga must faster. I have been to Japan 3 times in the last 5 years and from my time in the anime/manga stores, I can tell you that they definitly attract a younger/geekier audience. Contrary to the belief of many hard core anime fans, anime is indeed generally reserved for kids and geeks. Don't feel bad though, I used to love anime just as much as you, but over the last 2 years (I'm 22 now) I just becan to lose interest. I'm not saying you have to give it up, as I know some adults who still watch anime, but I'm saying there is a good chance you will want to as you get older.
there have already been about 20 DB, DBZ movies released, don't you? And these movies are all 50 minutes long. With the 1.5 - 2 hours that hollywood likes its movies this one should have ample time for a few good fights.
I've been reading about the development of this for a while. I believe it will be possible to get a linux OS running on it without too much trouble. Hopefully I'll be getting one soon so I can tell you how it goes.

You don't actually send the video over the net in a multiplayer fps, you're sending like locations and vectors and shit. Did you think that a host computer processed all the video, compressed and then sent it to the others like a movie? That's just sad...

Cowboy Bebop already went mainstream (it was on the cartoon network). That wasn't so bad.

as it is a summary.
Three actual reviews I like are found here. I Personally love this anime and have all the episodes on DVD.

In the caf there is a sign, "When you eat food without paying for it, it costs everyone", and I say "ya, it costs everyone but you, that's the point"
What about reading the DMCA before blindly signing against it? I mean that, don't just follow the herd, read it for yourself first.

I wonder if they will be leasing their 3D engine to other companies. It could put the quake 3 engine out of business.

They have completly disbanded, all the current development is being done by Warforge and to a lesser extent Warez-U.

... how hard it was for Bill Gates to keep all of those "leaked e-mails" from the public.

I think you mean: "For the love of KAMI!!!"
Guile was american in the game and anime as well. Remember he was on the stage with the U.S. Navy background and you could smash people on the boxes.
