ZFS supports file preallocation. No support for direct-to-disk io, but if you're using multiple disks, it can stagger/interleave blocks across disks and read/write faster than using 1 physical disk for large io.
Historically, PhotoShop was a mac app. Dual monitor support, video editing, page layout, graphic design were all easier on a Macintosh than a windows box. Until Windows NT/2K, the OS wasn't stable enough -- at which point MacOS became second tier.
"The female sexual response cycle appears as a gradual (sometimes maddeningly so) upward slope from excitement to orgasm, with several 'false peaks' in the plateau region. Anyone who's ever performed cunnilingus while kneeling on a hardwood floor can attest to the validity of this representation. The male cycle differs radically. The transition from excitement to plateau in men is rather rapid, represented by a near-vertical line. The plateau stage is then almost horizontal for varying amounts of time (see: premature ejaculation) followed by another extremely rapid ascent into orgasm. Playing video games often reminds me of the above."
Apple could have included HFS read/write abilities in the Windows version of iTunes if they wanted to. FAT32 is more "open" (in that pretty much everything can read it) than ZFS ever will be. ZFS is great, but it's a poor choice for an iPod.
CoreJavaScript (the KDE Javascript engine used in OS X Webkit) had raw socket support added a few months back. SSH and VNC might be a little iffy, but email would be trivial. Even more interesting: The google web toolkit allows you to compile java code to a javascript webapp. There were a few bug reports a few months back that alluded to building OS X Dashboard widgets with it. Imagine if you could write/debug java code, then compile it as javascript to run on your iPhone (or OS X/KDE desktop).
while government documents should not be locked away in a proprietary format, I think we can all agree that ODF is a turd that can't be polished. The fact that it's "open" doesn't mean it isn't fundamentally broken.
the "funny" tag doesn't improve your karma. Karma itself is kind of meaningless since it's now just an adjective and it's trivial to get the +2 bonus. But crap like that being posted (and moderated up) dilutes the entire discussion. Especially when there's 30 follow up comments explaining and retelling the joke.
Science and Nature don't cater to people that spend all day writing emacs macros to prove their lambda calculus theorems, it's for people that wear labcoats and do chemical/biological research. I have a Master's degree in a cellular biology. I've worked with a lot of PhD candidates and tenured professors. Dozens of papers were published yearly. The secretary was more computer literate than most of them.
There are no patent or licensing problems. There are social/technical problems -- namely ZFS doesn't fit into the linux approach to file systems and device drivers.

It's very easy to demonstrate reliability. You overwrite your HFS+ disk with /dev/random and I'll overwrite my zfs disk with /dev/random.
safari has some advanced css text support (like shadows; firefox, ie, and opera don't support them) which requires their own font engine.

Barney Frank will fuck you up the ass just as much as anyone else in DC. Of course, he'll do it literally, rather than figuratively.
correction: Frank is a twink that likes to suck cock.
here is the story.

... that Zonk posted a slashdot article about how playing video games is like eating out pussy?

there are actually quite a few tags they banned: dupe, gay, bonkthezonk, etc.

Kathleen Fent's crotch has bugs too.
3 holes in Natalie Portman? Oh yeah!
(sits back with the biggest grin on his face)
MS Notepad (not updated since windows 2k) has better unicode support than emacs v21.
the hot asian girlfriend writes your code, silly.

google code doesn't discriminate against punctuation characters. (You can even do a regex search).

Science and Nature are more about biological/geological/cellular/laboratory science. "Math" mean statistics and some charts and graphs.

why not all 3? Plus a pipe/conduit to allow new wire to be put in.
