Not that the term encryption gets abused:{
The whole programing slant and hints of the movie are sort of like candy to the layman.
In once scene in the movie council man takes Neo down to the so called engineering level to show him how the city Zion operates. Ironicaly Neo didnt even know such thing existed. Basicaly engineering level consisted of bunch of mechanical robots, lots of huge gears and levers and so called complex machines that made the city run.
But it makes say people who are in the techno know how think about how dependent our world is on software, more so then Zion is on buch of mechanical machinery. If no OS boots up next morning, people will start loosing billions of dollards. Your street light would not work , trains would not run, flights would be canceled, electronic commerce would seize, run on the banks woudl happen. Should i also mention the looting? Basicaly caios.
My point is that its true the movie makes a good attempt at an allegory of modern society although it could have been done in much smarter way.
NetBSD is realy great many admins just love it. The system is rock solid and its not unusual that it woudl be running for years without a reboot. Many admins use it for things like mail, ftp, web servers internaly in companies and no press no hype is generated but the OS keeps on working doing its job.
Surely this VP of sales at MS would not put his vaulueble time on tidius bookeeping of who got which typo. Ofcouse a programer could be made to write such a scrip that would do it automaticaly. But then then too many people would involved in the conspiracy and the fact of actualy doing this would be leaked and make MS look very bad.
But then it is a good strategy if there is suspect and just send one type to that suspect.
I to go polytechnic university (brooklyn). This is a pretty good small engineering shool which offers a good CS program. In the ACM room there is a TV with an XBOX , playstation and game cube and 5 controllers all hooked up. On the other side of the we have a projector that is used to display counter strike action being streamed from one of the students palying with others in the room over schools WAN or LAN. All these game players are not surprisingly the once who are strugling with their course work. The kids who are realy implementing quicksoft somewere are not wasting their time playing games but on actualy learning computer science.
So what conclusion can i reach that most game programers are not gamers themself. To be a good programer one needs a good education in computer sicnece fundamentals.
