Not only that, bun in autumn, we will have smartbooks which run for 10 hours, use 1-2 watts total, and decode full-hd H.264 (and other, but no Theora) videos with hardware acceleration. All on a platform that is pretty much a smartphone CPU with an additional mobil GPU (from nVidia). For $100-$200.
In the long run, Theora will be completely irrelevant, and H.264 will be the new GIF format, or be freed.
They feel wrong. Go to YouTube, and look a bit trough the comments. There you see total noobs recommending total noob tools to other total noobs. Those tools may be primitive. Like installing an app for it. But they work well. Especially if you actually never really used your computer, like these people have.
It's just some companies selling expensive snake oil wannabe-DRM flash playing systems to stupid executive managers. That's all.
That point is not completely correct. Correct is that the producers use it, because they imagine it would make it difficult. Incorrect is that it really is difficult. Because in reality, every noob (and I mean has seen YouTube for the first time, does not know what the start menu is, kind of noob) does just enter "youtube video download" in Google, and gets dozens of different solutions, that are as easy as "click download, click run, start it, click 'download video', finito".
Linux is not at all about the average user. It's about having a choice and about having a professional OS.
Luckily, by having a choice, you can make it a consumer OS too. Or whatever you like.
Nobody forces anyone to use the new things. He can live in his primitive little world and stifle progress as long as he likes.
So if anything is wrong, it's that someone thinking everything is like in Windows, where you have only one choice, and everything has to be dumbed down, until you have to be dumb to be able to use it, is getting a voice in any media. The whole thing is a complete joke.
Well, you are not thinking far enough. Of course you could also buy those games with the monopoly money from the first monopoly game. And you could by the first one with a magic invisible pink $100 bill.
Now we start to get onto the track to RIAA world...;)
Don't you get it? They would not die of most of those bacterial infections, if they had a real immune system, instead of that "spark-emitting, red-alarm-lights-blinking, and rotting" rest of an immune system.
Same thing with cancer. Why do you thing the reproductive function of the cells starts to fail that early, and just at specific spots, instead of the whole body? This is no general thing of old age. It is all that trash fucking up the system.
Same as allergies. I have living proof, that stopping to eat milk-based (and usually heat-destroyed) proteins, cures Asthma! How about that?
But yeah. Most people survive the trash we call "food". But how? They lose hair, get blind, get arthritis, and organ failures all over the body. And apparently, all those diseases are supposed to be because of the age? Well, NO. They aren't. And I have 50,000 patients, and 50 years of experience by Dr. M. O. Bruker, to prove it.
The only way that those diseases are subtle, is because they take decades of "doin' it wrong", to develop.
Sadly, nearly no doctor cares, or even knows about this, because they can't think that far.
They could design a DRM system that is generous on all counts, such that the average person has no pragmatic or material objection to its restrictions. This would make its adoption by customers much more widespread and would present the very convincing illusion of nullifying the arguments against DRM.
Well, they couldn't. Because it would be the opposite of DRM. DRM and convenient usage exclude each other. I would even say that it's the point. I think they already work the hardest, to even get to that level, from the insanity that the requirements of the media industry demand.:) When this is not "enough" for the industry anymore, that is when the fun starts. ^^
It's a vicious circle. Just wait for them, destroying themselves, by attacking the very source of their survival, instead of fixing themselves.
I also thought that this was a very false and stupid statement.
I will not stop contributing, just because someone steals my credit. First I will ask him friendly and fairly, that I think what he did is wrong, that I want it fixed, and that we should work it out. (Ex clarify misunderstandings.) But when he is ignoring me for too long, acting stubborn, or just being an asshole, I will kick his ass. Hard. I then have no problem with suing him, driving over there and storming the building, or DDOSing his servers, if I have fair proof that what he did was illegal/wrong. (But not when I have any doubt.)
Stopping contribution because of something like this is weak and proof of a poor character, that caves on aggressive dominant others. We are by far not all like that.:)
The real reason behind this, is that this process of division goes wrong more and more often, because the whole system is already that damaged, from the trash we call "food" and our environment full of unhealthy materials. Which adds up to our already very weak immune system.
But think about it: What is the best, most integrative, and most sense-making therapy of a disease? Improving the own immune system, of course.
Give it updates (immunization), improve its heuristics, give it all the resources it needs.
It is funny and very telling of the real goal of pharma companies, that despite (or because of) all our "technology", the human immune system now is the weakest in the whole animal kingdom. But the main driver behind this weak immune system, is the crap that we call "food" (but really isn't).
I for one, will hack and tune my own body, just like I do it to my computer and/or my car.
But I wonder why the Baconnaise clinic still is in business. Especially since they specialized on chocolate chip pancakes and sausage on a stick therapy...
It has one difference to a library: When the server gets switched off, all the information on it is gone forever. That's why we have archive.org... which in fact *is* the largest library known to man. And in my opinion, it's also one of the the most valuable and precious things on the planet, if not the most valuable thing.
So you get to decide what is "crap"? Well, how selfless of you...
No, even if all people except that one who created it, thought it was crap. And the creator felt it so be worthy of saving, it thereby is worthy of saving.
They can't. At least not, without you agreeing. I mean what's the point of a support contract, that can be canceled, as soon as you need support? That would be fraud, and thereby illegal.
The problem here is, that it is all "treatment" here, "treatment" there. But NOBODY actually HEALS anything. It's all about the money.
Protip 1: If your doctor says, that there is no method to heal it, it means, that he, and he alone does not know how to fix it. Which means, that he is incompetent. But he would never admit it, because of his god complex. Protip 2: A doctor is just a better pharmacist, who gets tons of bullshit input from pharma companies, and has not updated his knowledge since university. Protip 3: If your doctor suggests a medication, but that medication does not guarantee that you are completely and forever healed from that problem, then it is a fraud, and only a symptom treatment, that in no way will fix things. Its point is to make money by keeping you hooked. Protip 4: If your doctor does not first find the real causes (which always are environmental [including food and other people] or genetic, and NEVER *caused* by any *body part*), then tries to eliminate them with you, and then thinks about the active symptoms until the elimination of the cause is done, he is a public hazard, and must be avoided.
Science can make health care better. Health care can not make science better.
Also, with 6.7 billion people on earth, who cares if 10% of them die? We reproduce quicker than anyone can kill us. Remember when we were at 6.0 billion?
But that would cost us nearly as much as one month of war. Sorry, can't do that. Have to murder people, and be called "a true hero" by everyone. Including the commentators on the Colbert Report full episode site.
Well, are you really talking about who should interpret a fictional story for whom as a real guide for life, and call yourself educated?
Get off and get a therapy. This is disgusting!
As far as I see it, ffmpeg is available for alpha, amd64, hppa, ia64, ppc, ppc64, sparc and x86:
http://packages.gentoo.org/package/media-video/ffmpeg
Which means it also runs on MacOSX.
It even runs on the iPhone, which has a ARM 1176 CPU:
http://www.wickedpsyched.com/ffmpeg
And of course there is ffdshow for Windows.
Is that enough? ^^

Flash video IS h.264 most of the time. And yes, it is accelerated. What do you think the "Hardware Acceleration" option in the settings does? ^^

More people do not make an argument stronger.
No, it was his German brother: http://navid.radiantempire.com/pub/pix/danke_hauptmann.jpg
No, nowadays it's Nano. Which is not much better either. ;)
Yeah. Emacs is the oldest software-only complete virtualization system, and much more proven than VMware. Although it only runs lisp machine code.
Ok, I'll have to go, see my "M-x doctor".
P.S.: Don't make the error, thinking that this went over my head, when it went over yours. ;)

Don't insult Iran. They are bad, but not *that* bad. :P
Here are some new clothes. Change into them. :)
