i was hoping somebody would make a weblog out of kurt cobain's diaries...
BTW you can buy his diaries at Barnes and Nobles. Pretty interesting, with all the sketches.
I personally think, that it is better if one gets some industry experience (2-3 years) after their undergraduate, before getting into any graduate program.
If you have currently working in a industry, graduate schools look at your work experience, and not much at your Bachlors degree. Atleast that is the case for the technical/engineering program, I don't know about other fields.
I would go to the best college, that I can afford to go to.
I dont think UnderGraduate studies matter that much. It is for the higher degrees that you need to go to the prestigeous institutions....
I personally think education is important. Having a BS degree in Computer Science or atleast CIS, should be made pre-requisite for all IT related jobs. Real Jobs require problem solving skills, and the only way to get these skills is to attend a proper university. If you wanna spend all your life performing backups, than I think you can live without proper education.
This is what happened in the DOT COM bust. Lots of unqualified people, without any problem solving skills and proper education got hired, and that pushed the companies down the drain.

games vs movies. i think with the level of complexity and advancement in games and gaming technology, i have to say sale of games will exceed the sale of disney movies....
reading through GNU and GNU FDL "license text" gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling:)

that is very true. However in Arizona the cold mouse pads actually felt good, specially during summers when the:

would make a nice holiday present. it reminds of those old grid lined steel mouse pads that were shipped with Sun Sparc and Ultras. I think Sparc were shipped with a digital mouse, and so were SGI machines. I had a Sparc 20 and 10.
I was writing a complex WHERE clause with multiple ANDs and ORs and I forgot to put the parentheses around OR statements, and that crashed the whole mysqld.
If anyone wants to see the query, let me know. Worked fine after I added the parentheses.
I use Compaq M700 for this purpose. It supports swapable drives, plus booting from secondary HD, which can placed in the CD ROM bay. M700 works out very nicely. I even bought a M700 for home, so now I just need to take the HD with me, and not lug the whole laptop with me.
to write Strict XHTML DTD based Obfuscated XHTML, that chokes one XHTML browser and works on the other XHTML browser. And offcourse both of the browsers should funnly support Strict XHTML DTD

;)
maybe one day it will be on gutenberg, and i will read it
But don't take my word for it, cause i am no expert in litrature. Maybe you will love the book.....
I think a agreement with the copyright holders can be reached, with little effort. maybe they can benefit from the advertisement revenues as well.

oh i forgot to mention, in my last post:....
Being a dedicated sys admin is like being a hobo, and thus the saying: "I maybe a hobo (sys admin), but you are a nobo (users)..."
I didn't see the "problem solving skills" as a requirement for being a sys admin, mentioned anywhere in the article.
I think problem solving skill are a must for the sys admin job, especially if you don't want to be a Jr. Sys Admin and perform backups all your life.
I worked for a relatively large institution, in the capacity of a Sys Admin, and I know for a fact that you need some serious problem solving skills.
then be a system.... As heard on simpsons: "I maybe a hobo, but you are a nobo..."

Why would a LUG would want to run a WebApplication on IIS?
I would suggest that you use Wiki (we use wiki for a similar purpose) or use a simple Weblog like b2 cafelog.
actually reliability of the company must be considered first. what good is a high-end technology, if it will last due to monetary problems.
