I cant talk about CS in detail, but in the Quake series the best players are the best not because of any of the above, but because their hand-eye co-ordination (aim) and ability to process information and empathy of what the enemy team/players are doing is superior.
Reaction time is not a factor, if your having to react to a situation, you have already lost, top players are said to appear to have ESP:)
you cant teach or train this, you have it or you dont. Of course you wont be anywhere without some practise as well.
ive played Q2 and Q3 at top level (world champs in france, 2 teams ive been in have won clanbase european cups).
Im a good player, BUT i will never have the aim of some the freaks that play these games, a handful of players around the world just have hand eye co-ordination that is not natural.
Its exactly the same way top tennis players are seperated from a top 20 player, or that top 20 player is seperated from a good club player.
You can see the scale across the spectrum of players, many many people play for years and years, practise very hard and never break through to the top 50 in their country cos they just dont have the ability, its a sliding scale.
of course casual players, dont realise this, and when they get beaten on a public servers assume their opponent is cheating (ok maybe in cs) or only wins because they know how to tweak the game and play all day.
From my experience; ive competeted in motor-racing/bike racing/ski-ing and other sports at national level since age 12 playing a FPS shooter such as Quake3 at a top level is way way more demanding than any of these activities, just the fact everyone has a level playing field makes things incredibly more competitive, and the what the game demands from you is intense
- The value of degrees has been reduced due to the UK government's insane scheme to get more and more people to go to university. We don't need more people to go to university - we need to make it harder to go to university -
This is so much the truth..
They introduce tuition fees and so on because universities are costing so much money, but then they let so many colleges become universities and so many E grade students enroll that its no wonder they cant afford to pay for them all!!
imo they should reduce the number of universities, get rid of the lesser ones, and only accept students based on their grades/performance.
If you cant get at least 3 C's at a-level you dont have either the intelligence or dedication to deserve a university place.
But then you get people saying thats discrimination, everybody should be allowed to go to university...
I say everyone capable should be allowed to go.
If they only let people go to university who deserve it, then the governemnt could afford to pay their tuition fees and so on.
With this system, the best would get a good education thats worth something, and the whole country benefits.
This current system, the only people with degrees will be those who can afford to waste time.
I think you can call it the brain drain...

er, spoilers dont create lift.
they create negative lift, how much depending on the design.
they also improve airflow around the car.
So you get more grip for high speed cornering, and generally a slightly lower top speed, although it depends on how much downforce the spoiler creates.
Some spoilers might actually increase top speed, simply because they are designed to produce very little downforce, and improve the aerodynamics of the car because of the air flow is better.
But even these spoilers will create some negative lift.
Same in UK... i have deep concerns over any legal proceedings.
Recently my parents were sued by a rich neighbour over a border dispute.
The neighbours claims and actions upto the trial remind me very much of SCO, he was completely insane and had no case but crazy talk.
Yet somehow he has won because he ran my parents out of money and some very strange actions from the judge.
before the trial we was laughing how it could actually get this far cos the whole matter seemed so stupid, then suddenly we are settling out of court for 80k as they couldnt afford to defend themselves after the initial advocation was stretched out so the court time ran out.
Also, does this come down to a decision of 1 judge ? its all very iffy.

So true
ever since i started playing Quake2 in 98, ive hardly watched TV.
Before that i used to always watch for several hours a night.
I tend to spend my couple of hrs free time on irc, playing quake with my clan rather than watching the latest soap opera.
When i had a tv in my room i would then just have MTV/news 24 on as background noise.
