  1. Re:The Big Question... on WebTV/MSNTV Virus Dials 911 · · Score: 1

Forget about the "anti-hacker law." Couldn't something like this be considered terrorism under the current US rules, laws, and political climate? "Tying up and attempting to disable an emergency service" or some such.

It'll be interesting if they catch this guy, to see what he gets charged with. He'd probably do more time than many rapists or murderers.

  2. "Does anyone know any other examples?" on Handspring Hides Flash ROM in Handspring Treo · · Score: 1

The TI-83+ Silver Edition (graphing calc) has approximately 96KB more memory than the standard TI-83+. However, Texas Instruments doesn't allow the user to access this extra memory through the OS, although there are a few programs that use it for certain features. (See VirtualCalc on ticalc.org if you're interested and/or disbelieve me.)

Hopefully, they'll make this memory usable in a future OS version, but I kinda doubt it.

"Complete build of win2k time is 8hrs on 4way PIII and requires 50GB of hard drive space."

Compiling with Visual Basic .NET sure does take a long time and a lot of space.

  5. Excuses, excuses. on Moby Says Techie Fans = Fewer Sales · · Score: 3, Insightful

"Techie fans" have been able to pirate songs for years now. Perhaps Moby's latest album just isn't that good? I haven't heard it, but that seems like the most likely explanation.
