That reminds me - I'm reading Extreme Programming Refactored (I probably shouldn't open that door) and it made me realize how that attitude is primordial to XP.
Could you explain a little more? It's not like slashdot is getting any real work done, yet we all agree we couldn't live without it, right?
Seriously, sometimes it's time to think, and sometimes it's time for action. You mean now is definately not a time to think? (Pardon the messed up quote from Candy, I think..)
Actually, the tracker is the single point of failure in the bittorrent protocol.
Anybody know where to get Burt's client? I'd still like to try it. I have to be able to throttle my upload, and the current client (3.3) doesn't allow that, unfortunately.
I've been using a couple of vision 1000 dumb terminals since I found them in the university trash over 5 years ago. When I'm not working from home, I have the terminal with me at work. Saved me a few times from rebooting when I could fix the problem thru the serial port.
Now I have a couple of sparc II computers, and can't wait to connect them to the terminal - I don't have a monitor or keyboard for the sparc II, so the vt100 again is a life saver.
Just a few days ago, spews block an email I was sending from burtonhosting.com. Seems a spammer had found a home with them, but it's been kicked out since. I wonder if the block has been lifted by now...
Opera dropping features, he? I have to admit I'm not up to date on Opera anymore, but I like the little fellow so I'll make sure it works for it too. That footer has been causing me headaches since the beginning...
That's strange. I had a problem when I first did the layout, where the language/copyright blue bar would stretch to cover the whole page, but I fixed it with the correct doctype.
Out of curiosity, what version of Opera did you use? I tried 7.20 on Windows and it worked. I also have 6.05 laying around, and that one still shows the same problem.
One of the first thing on the page, when the blue bar covers it completely, is a "[hide]" or "[cacher]" link. If you click that, the rest of the page should show. I guess I really really have to correct that problem - didn't think it was so serious.
Thanks a lot for letting me know:)

Knoppix 3.3 Is Out

· Score: 3, Informative
From the knoppix homepage:
Possibility to create a persistent homedir with personal data and desktop settings on a memory stick or similar, optional with AES encryption.
Also these options:
knoppix home=/dev/sda1/knoppix.img Mount loopback file as/home/knoppix
knoppix home=scan Automatic search for knoppix homedir
Sure... post right before I do so I get marked as redundant! Maybe next time you'll think about others before acting.

Yeah, like "Media Player Classic" for example :)
Maybe you should give foobar2000 a try - it's from one of the winamp2 developpers, it's very unbloated, and supports all kinds of plugins and looks.
Not sure I get it... what store do you go to that has all the music cds from every cie...
Who's going to publish benchmark about this webserver's scalability?
Another thing a saw recently was a usb key with a special netscape version preinstalled. I'm not sure if that means mozilla, or...
The idea is to keep all temporary files (cookies, cache, histoy) on the key itself, so you don't "pollute" the host computer used for browsing.
Thanks, but I've been there, done that. I want v3.3 _and_ the experimental features :)
Thanks for the tip! Let's see what other options are available now...

Actually fixing the mime type like suggested below really is that easy.

mind telling me if burtonhosting.com stuff is still banned?
I heard after 4 days of good behavior, the ban was automatically dropped? Anyhow, spews.org seems to have vanished now too...
Can anyone reach spews.org ?

Also these options:
If you want to bring in the big guns, there's knoppix-std too, with encryption support, etc.
Can you be anymore specific?
