Have you ever hung out near an airport and watched aircraft land? On final approach, there isn't a whole lot of apparent motion, unti they get quite close. Landing is not that much nose up, until the get close to the ground. With a scope, it wouldn't be too hard to track the cockpit from a good distance off.
Add in scatter off the windshield, and eyes adjusted to night, and a couple of seconds would be enough to screw a pilots night vision, and completely distract him during a critical part of the flight. The workload for a pilot during a landing is quite enough, without throwing in "hey..I can't see the ground!"
Actually injuring/destroying the eyes is not necessary.
Actually, there is a provision (in Ohio, at least) for one family member (usually the proposed executor) to go into the box specifically to look for a will and insurance policies. Those are the only items that may be removed. This is before court appointment of the executor.
Bah. Pretty much every home has an internet pipe. The phone line. Where is the compelling need for govt mandated (and taxpayer funded) broadband?
Since private companies did not find it attractive to build high-speed connections to remote places, the government and municipalities agreed to cover part of the cost.
Unless this is a different planet, the Swedish government makes just as much money as every other government. Exactly zero. They get it from taxes. So the only way for the 'government to cover the cost' is to have the taxpayers pay for it. Citizens in the US have not come to the point of a) requirng the government to fund this, and b) providing those funds.
Access to communications _should_ be a human right,
This is just faster access to communication(Internet), not the complete lack of it. If the argument was 'most homes in the US have zero access to the Internet', I'd look at this differently. But that is not the case.
'Global warming' may well be a reality. The cause of it, however, is still very much in debate. IS it part of the natural rise and fall of planetary temperature averages, or is it caused by man.
To paraphrase:

You're wrong about Iraq (IMHO). The majority of the people, again IMHO, do want 'freedom and democracy'. The problem is the very voacal and very armed minority. They would like things to either a) go back to the way they were under Saddam, and they were in power...or b) become the power. They don't want to take a chance on a free and open election, because they know they'd lose badly.
The rest of the population would just like to live their lives. Go to work, have kids, homes, watch TV, go to church/mosque...like the rest of the world. But they can't, because of that small, vocal, armed minority of asshats.
THe USAF had been mailing them to the servicemember far earlier than that. IIRC, no bank name or acct #, but the other info was the same.
Until the Giant Volcano they are living on burps, and tosses them off into the sea.
Are you willing to risk your spouses' or childs' life on his rationality?

I take it you wouldn't be bothered if someone shone a laser into your eyes while you're trying to drive at night?
Shine it in the pilot's eye AND the copilots eye
I don't know about you, but I like my pilots being able to see. 100%. Not suffering from temporary blindness trying to land at night.
they probably have a way for the tower to land the plane in case of emergency.
Uh huh..sure. That is simply reused technology from the alien ship stored at hangar 18.
No. You are within your rights to shoot if you feel you life is in danger, at that moment.
They drill the lock out. A safe deposit box and its contents are 'property', unlike an email account, which is a service.
I went thrugh this a couple of years ago.

'Fix' the digital divide? I thought that was Gore's job.
Less densely settled?
"The majority of the Canadian population, about 60% is concentrated within a thin belt of land representing 2.2% of the land between Windsor, Ontario and Quebec City."
Napster.
Expensive? Hardly. I picked up a USB 7-1 card reader for about $8 just before christmas.
Under TaskManager, it still shows as "GIANTAntiSpywareMain.exe". No mention of Microsoft.

You're missing the slashbot groupthink
When America plays a part in anything, it's wrong.
but it's my intention to join the National Guard anyway
as one ex-military to one future military, thank you. Keep your head down, and be careful.

July 1999. The mullahs slapped them down. Hard.
Interestingly, Iran was the only middle eastern country to have spontaneous pro US demonstrations after 9/11/2001.
I don't think anyone will pay you for that skill.
Right. And when you're listening to music on your iPhone, and it rings...will you be able to tell if its just another song, or an incoming call?
That is precisely what an awful lot of people do, through unions.
No. But it is a full time job for some. Pretty hard to actually eat if no one is paying you for that full time job.
The 'people' have decided. They want the entire catalog, online, in straight mp3 (or other unencumbered format), for free.
Now...tell me how that would actually work.
Do you go to work every day and give your employer the fruits of your labor for free? I know I don't.
