The spam issue must be fixed in the community. I receive very little spam after my filters get through with it. Maybe one or two messages get through per day and I never lose legitimate messages. I don't use anything fancy, I just search for certain phrases that every piece of spam seems to contain, and my mail server blocks known spam hosts. The problem is much more severe on my free internet mail accounts, but I only use them for registrations and such. People who have serious spam problems are not very good at dealing with it.
So basically you do not understand the recount law in Florida and you make an unsubstantiated suggestion that a verifiable fact is actually just a media concoction.
Gore made a specific request that certain counties be recounted. That is documented in court briefings and rulings.
Florida law has various laws that mandate recounts and in this case the machine recount was used. Show me a copy of the florida law and a reasonable source that indicates it was broken.

hmm.. how far has the earth traveled since the first microchips were built? I assume we are talking about motion relative to the sun, since that is the most relevant when comparing the motion of this probe to other microprocessors.
It seems like the processor in my Apple II has traveled along way since it was built. But I would be interesting to see what the difference in heliocentric distance traveled by Galileo and an object on the surface of the earth would be.
BTW, I am not even a hobbiest astronomer, so don't flame be too bad if I said something stupid. I am just curious.
I used a fairly recent one for a few weeks and it would get fairly hot when run on AC power for more than 45 minutes or so. Didn't bother me too much since I hardly ever used it on AC power while it was in my lap. If I was on AC power, I was at a desk. If it was in my lap, I was on battery.
Cool little machine but I can't do my work on the little screen.
I think I would like to see a version of a game like this where, rather than just a threat level, actual charges were accumulated where evidence was available and if caught there was some sort of interactive legal battle. Choose defenses, bribe evidence clerks, murder witnesses, etc.
Ahh. Most people might think its boring I guess.. But I'm a huge Law and Order fan.
I agree with you. The game does not force you to do it. It is a great outlet. I like the game. I am glad they made it. All I am saying is that there is legitimate reason for the parents to not buy it for their kids. As an adult I can see it for what it is. Young kids may or may not. Young kids are just not fully developed. If an adult reacts like a kid to this game then he is disturbed. If a kid does it, it is his parents fault.
And as far as the rape goes, I understand that those actions are technically soliciting prostitution, public lewdness, intent to fraud, fraud, attempted murder, and murder robbery. But believe me, there isn't a DA in this country that wouldn't add rape to that charge.
OK Maybe I considered it a rape sequence because I bought the car-rocking and then beat up the girl to get the money back....
I think the implication of sex was pretty obvious. And if you did that in real life and then murdered the whore, you would be charged with rape and murder. Death penalty here in Texas.
I lost at least one Motorola Startec to a coffee cup that I didn't notice in my center console while I was driving. And my brother has lost two while being pushed into a lake/swimming pool with them in his pocket.
The reasoon this is done in post processing is that if you have radio communication from a fixed point to the receiver, why the heck would you need GPS. Just setup you're own ground based positioning system. If you need to analyze the data from a receiver to find out what the real locations were, say for mapping, you could then compare with the fixed locations results to make corrections. But if you are capable of making the corrections on the fly it would be easier to triangulate from fixed points anyways.

I agree with the RIAA in that it should not be legal to redistribute copyrighted content. I do disagree on whether the medium of distribution is liable though. The USPS would be forced to inspect every package for burn't cds if this philosophy was really put into practice.

I agree to a point. What I will add is that it seems that a website which is publicly accessible is not always a public area. The concept of having terms of use on a website implies that by not following the terms they are trespassing.
I'm not sure if its correct but I will compare it to the recent case of people being kicked out of a mall for wearing war protest t-shirts which mall officials found offensive. The basic idea being that even though the anyone can enter the mall without a membership card, by doing so they automatically submit themselves to the rules which are set down by the property owners. If they refuse to cooperate with those rules they may be removed from the premises or, if they resist, charged with trespassing.
If it is found that a website can enforce similar rules, then copyright is not the major issue. The website itself could be considered a private area even though the "public" can go there and they are obligated to follow the rules laid out.
As someone who builds as many sites as I visit, I would hope that this is the case. As far as copyrights are concerned, I think that the airline should be able to control the publication of its schedules and prices as well, but the broader implications of website terms of use seams more important to me.
This whole system doesn't rule out the possibility of one person having more than one identifier. You could have a Personal Identifier and a Business Identifier and attach them to different devices and/or different ring patterns.
The idea is that if I want to call my best friend, I don't have to try to think of his cell when he doesn't answer at home. And If I need to email my boss its the same ID as if I called him.
Using a combination of different devices and phone numbers and addresses and the time of day to figure out whether a message is important is not very reliable. This system has the basic features that would allow real communications screening to work.

I think there is a moral obligation. Knowing about a virus is, essentially, knowing about a crime that is about to be or is being committed. They at least had an obligation to report anything they know to legal authorities, short of proprietary solutions.
