  1. Re:Seriously guys drop the crusade please? on Why Must You Destroy The Industry, PSP? · · Score: 1

Dude, chill. Breathe. It's just a fun video, not some commentary about how evil the PSP is or how it's going to destroy the gaming industry. Don't be so ready to take offense at everything, just enjoy it for what it is - a fun little animation.

  2. Re:Gameplay question on Final Fantasy Dawn of Souls Released · · Score: 1

No, but it does sound like it could be a much better leveling system than the one currently used in RPGs. Obviously it needs tweaking, but does it not make more sense to suppose that the only way to improve one's strength would be to use it? As opposed to casting magic all the time, yet having your str increase when you lvl up? huh??

  3. Re:800 SF? on Green Housing Takes Root in Oregon · · Score: 0
I am always amazed at how spoiled our society has become. It's always bigger bigger bigger. In the past 50 years, the average home size in America has doubled. Your typical baby boom family grew up in homes not too far from that size - and they typically had 4+ kids. Yet today it's "way small" for a family.

At this rate, in 20 years we will all be living in homes the size of mansions and consider them normal, even small.

  4. Re:Anyone have a .torrent? on Star Wars on DVD · · Score: 1

I'm connected to 35 people and still only getting a download speed of 11.3kbs? I shouldn't complain. This is the fastest I've ever gotten from a torrent.

  5. Re:Simple answer: no on Can Star Wars Episode III Be Saved? · · Score: 1

I agree. And this to me just illustrates the sad state of our film industry. People no longer pay attention to the story when making movies, they only care about what they can do to make the most possible money. In Star Wars's case, the effort seems to be to introduce as many "cool" charactors as possible so that they can all be made into toys, dolls, etc, afterwords and make tons of money.

  7. Re:what an exhausing exhaustive list on Nit-Pickers Guide to Deviations in Jackson's LotR · · Score: 1

Yeah, but that would make the *theater* money and not the *studio*. You do realize that theaters make no money at all off of tickets. That's why they charge an arm and a leg for popcorn, coke, and candy. The studio's don't care about the theater at all, only themselves and making more and more money, thus they want movies kept as short as possible and played as often as possible.

  8. Galatic Center on You Are Here (On Earth) · · Score: 2, Interesting
This may be off-topic, but it's something I have been wondering about that this story reminded me of. That is, have there been any more theories or discoveries as to what lies at the galatic center? The last theory I heard was one of hundreds of massive black holes, tho I never did understand how that would cause the massive sphere of light we always see at the galatic centers of other galaxies.

Anyone want to share some light on this?

    Thanks!

  9. Best Buy coverage on Washington Post Covers iPod Battery Ruckus · · Score: 2, Interesting

I bought my ipod at Best Buy. Spent 30 bucks extra for their 3 year replacement plan. My first ipod died, I took it in and not only did they replace it no questions asked, but gave me the next model up (15gig at the time). I'm only 6 months into my new replacement plan, so I'm not worried. IMO, more people should take advantage of retail giants like Best Buy selling Apple stuff.

  10. Re:No way, not that fast on Replace Your Music....Again · · Score: 1

I think by death of cd they don't mean totally disappearance of it, just that it will no longer be the dominate medium. Many have said VHS is dead, but as you point out it's still around, even if sales are fading. Music tapes are still around and being sold, too, despite being "killed" by cd's many many years ago.

Great first step. I'd love to be able to try it! Unfortunately, I'm not going to install windows just so I can use iTunes. Let me know when they release a Linux version... (or someone figures out how to run it with Wine) -dave

    10. Fantasy-oriented names that are easily recognized from popular existing media (e.g. Gandalf, Pikachu, Drizzt, Godzilla, Aslan).

You mean I can't live out my dream of being a Bounty Hunter named Godzilla??? Well, that just ruins it for me!

  13. Re:Other examples on Using the DMCA Against License Violations? · · Score: 1
From what I understand, as long as he included a copy of the GPL and the source code to his rebranded projects, there is nothing wrong here. The GPL does state that you are free to make changes and sell the changes if you include the source (with your changes).

I could be wrong, but I believe this is what I've always read about it.
