In a nutshell that is one thing you CAN DO but thats not all of what gnu/radio does. Basically it is a program similar to airsnort or something like that which reformats a captured stream. The capture card they used to get HDTV is about $1500 but the program can be used for a lot else. It will take all kinds of incoming analog streams and put them into a nice digital format minus the copy-protection (a la macrovision) that came with it. The program is really great and now i want a bitching video capture card to make my own home tivo.
HAHAHA BitTorrent is such a load of crap. What your saying is i should download another p2p app but this time i have no control over my own upload bandwidth. Your saying i should freely give away my measly ADSL connection to companies who are too greedy to buy their own bandwidth? What a load of crap. If you want warez there is a million better ways to do it. Why are you posting a warezing tutorial to slashdot? Why are you pimping out BitTorrent which is clearly an inferior way of warezing? If you really look into BitTorrent you will realize it is some shady scheme thats probably really just some trojan out to make a few people money off greedy warez kids.
What ever happened to IRC? Dont you know you can all the TV shows you want in plani divx format off USENET? Who wants to download files in a special format that need to be converted to a format that feels less like DRM already. Just download K++2.0.3 or a gntuella client and you can get all the TV shows you want.
I eralize i might be flammed and modded for going against BitTorrent. At first when i heard about it i waw exited as it seemed like a good idea. Using the power of p2p bandwidth to solve the internet's bandwidth needs seemed fine. As i looked into this more i got sceptical. At first it seemed like any other cool project that i would support. I later found lots of patenting and secretism over this program and "HiveCache", a failed project by the same programmer and a similar idea. I am fearful that BitTorrent will be helpful at first but once it has a solid base will sell out and take advantage of what was once a good service.

When was the last time you "thought as you pleased". Can you really control what you think? Honestly i know i cant do it 100%. Your concious mind is basically along for the ride with your un-concious mind. When you see something or hear something you really dont have much control over what goes through your mind afterwards. If everyone has such free will why do we all act so similar. Of the billions of combinations of activities a person can do every day why do we all choose nearly the same thing; get up, go to work/school, eat at 'regular' times, sleep later that night. Look around sometime and ask yourself if the people areound you really have some master plan that involves them being there at that exact time. Some people get upset when other people say that people may not be entirely responsible for their actions. This means that significant parts of our goverment, society, and justice system are flawed. If people's genes make them do it why are we putting them in jail for? I do not think we should not punish criminals for their acts but it raises questions about what we really want to expect out of people. Obviously we wantto improve society all the time but does blaming people and accusing them of just being "mean" or "evil" do any good? People are just going to act in all different ways forever and i dont believe that you can blame their genes for what they do but i also think it is unerasonable to blame the person for everything they do. Blaming a person does just as much good as blaming their genes.
Yes long articles are boring. If your article gets boring then you need a better editor that wont let that shit pass. If you cant even edit your own content well enough maybe you shouldn't be writing. I dont want to sonud like a troll here but a good writer can say the same thing in less words which means it will be understood better. If you write and article that is too lengthy, too roundabout in the way you make your point your readers will quit paying attention. Personally i dont have time to read anything that is longer than it has to be.

Damnit i didn't know their new album was copy-pretected too. Just the other day i ripped my Mezzanine cd to mp3 so i can play it on my rio volt cd player and it was awsome... how am i suposed to use my mp3 player for cd's i pay for when they do this crap. This just means i might have to download the mp3 to a cd i own or perhaps get around the copy-protection *gasp* which is a big no-no in the eyes of the same company.

Maybe if i hadn't have been a bit mroe clear nobody would believe your troll but i think as it is now some might. So let me clear some things up. The keys on a qwerty keyboard are spaced to not hit keys often which are next to each other. If you look you will see the vowels "AE" on the elft and "UIO" on the right which come up just as often. The particular consenants that most often go with thsope vowels are on the other side of the kayboard.
If you really want to get anal about world-records and other crap then think about this. QWERTY keyboards have been around for a long time and are also the accepted standard. If another key layout was as popular maybe then people would have a chance of using it to type really fast but since everyone uses QWERTY chances are the world record holder will use QWERTY. The actual fastest keyboard i have ever seen has 10 keys. One for each finger and thumb. All the possibler charecters are used with several key combinations which means you never move your fingers far but it has a high learning curve. Thsi keyboard is unnacceptable for everyday use so i personally dont know anyone who uses it.
I live on an Island in the Puget Sound yet i have some good broadband available. This was surprising to me when i moved here considering many other communities nearby who are not on islands cant get anything for under $500 a month. Its really hard to make any blanket statement about where broadband is available.
I have an IBM KB-8923 which is similar to the model M but it has the windows keys on it. It works perfectly good yet comed in handy when your too lazy to klick the "K" in the corner and want to impress your friends with KDE so you hit the window key and BAM you get a similar looknig menu. I guess my friends are easily impressed.
"QWERTY" keyboards are from typewritter designs. They are designed to have common combinations of keys spaced out so that the hammers of a typewritter wont jam as often. "Dvorak" keyboards are designed to have the most common used letters right under your fingers so that you have less space to move therefore typeing quicker. Personally i dont mind the keyboard im using to type this post... IBM makes a good keyboard and even though this thing is over a decade old all the keys are still working and most of what i do is still the same as what was done in the past.
He has answered these before and in short here is what i have picked up to be the answers. Yes the GPL is foolproof and yes he is willing and has been willing (i hope so since hes been doing this for free) to make a stand.
It makes me wonder what IPv4 will be like in its last days. Will it simply be a haven for warez, spam, and porn untill the weight of all the leechers causes it to collapse all together or will it somehow live for years and years with a slowly dying population like old school BBS'es.
Actually computers are pretty good at taking heat. IC chips are often baked at sever hundred degrees in the manufacturing process to prevent water from getting in them. A standard circuit board will withstand heat quite well. The problem with heat and computers comes in with plastic parts such as LCD's. This story sounds like she was trying to dry it out a bit but maybe she should have put it into the microwave:) just kidding.
Im sure dell wont require a floppy if they choose to get rid of it but i know i will still need a floppy. As it is now i dont have a flappy in any of my computers. They just cause problems but i DO keep them around. If you have ever flashed a BIOS or hade a mobo go dead on you then you know a floppy is required. As it is now the floppy is slow and painful but there are some times when ONLY a floppy will work. Until BIOS and mobo manufacturers make a total replacement to the functions of a floppy i wont get rid of my extra drvies.
