Isn't the next presidential election 2 1/2 yrs away? What kind of a mod would let such a garbage comment through?
I don't see how the feds in the Antitrust wing of the government could let this one through. We spent so much money years back to break AT&T into bits because of their anticompetitive behaviours only to be approaching it yet again 70 yrs later.... UGH!
I'd really like to see how it performs w/o being plugged in overnight. After all, when you plug into an outlet, that power has to be created by some form of burning fossil fuels. Storing that power just so you can say you get higher fuel economy is cheating.
If I filled an 18-wheeler chock full of batteries. Then, charged them to capacity, I bet I could easily clear 1000 MPG for a short distance, but what would that prove (besides quintupling my electric bill)
This information is, at best, misleading. I checked out several companies of which I know the approximate makeup of OS/Browsers and the data returned wasn't even close. In one case, not even one percent was returned for the >90% deployed operating system/browser (Win98/IE5).
Obviously they have some data, but since a lot of corporations don't actually browse from the netblocks they own for serving websites (they use different connections typically for employees)
1) Setup arrays of solar cells in the wake of the earth's orbit. (~20% efficient) 2) Setup a method for transferring source material from the moon (or maybe just collect it) 3) Use some of the energy created to transport it back to earth.
With enough solar arrays in our wake, the energy lost by the physical transferrance of source material and hydrogen cells would someday be a small percentage of the yield.
If states want to do this, they can.
We live in a republic of states. The president is actually only an executive of power above the states level. ("The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." - Tenth Amendment to the US Constitution)
Thus, direct election of the President (or district elections as you so well put) would require a constitutional amendment. Not to say that's not possible, after all we did pass the 17th amendment in 1912 allowing for direct election of Senators. Personally, I think this was a step back in a critical check to the tyranny of the masses in the Legislative branch. That was the major purpose of the Senate after all.
If one argues we need to get rid of the electoral college, one should also argue we need to get rid of the senate and just have the house.
You know, I don't understand why the parent of this post was modded to "Insightfull".
I understand Deagol is a flaming liberal, but what does that have to do with the election (other than his one vote). He certainly hasn't made any valid points.
And, ending with "We deserve to get attacked again..." How crass. The only way a person could make this statement is if they sided with the Al Qaeda or another one of our active opponents. I hope that's not the case.
Yes, it shows that a whole bunch of people on BOTH sides will vote for their party no matter what. (Most of which need their critical thinkers "fixed")
But, the good thing is that the ones in the middle looked at all the facts, and made the right decision.
Interesting how the headline says "Koizumi retracts stated support for Bush's reelection"
But, then you read the article and the quote is: "It's not good to interfere in another country's election. Japan-U.S. relations are important and Japan will firmly develop the alliance no matter who is president,"
How is that a retraction? A: It's not. It's just a statement that Japan's government doesn't want to interfere with another government's election and that Japan will welcome either candidate (of course!).
Just a thought on your "only one registry per Pri-Sec combination" With 2 DNS servers I can create one said combination With 3 DNS servers I can create 6 said combinations With 4 DNS servers I can create 12 said combination With N DNS servers I can create N(N-1) said combination. So, to register 400 domains, I would only need 21 DNS servers. 50 DNS server will give me 2450 domains. A CLASS C of DNS servers will give me appx 63756 domains. Fancy that. You need a little more limits in place than a simple DNS combination. A better limit would be that a DNS server can only be listed once in a TLD. Or, even better (but harder to implement), a DNS network can only be listed once. Of course, that would screw the services that many ISP's and registries bank on (serving DNS for their customers) But, o well *shrug* ShanMan
Microsoft charges: $245/incident for most products (networking issues can be @ a much higher fee)

IANA Deploying IPv6
·
· Score: 1
IPv6 actually has 3.40 x 10^38 addresses (if every single address was exploited)
Avagadro's number is 6.023x10^23
IPv6 would be able to address 564,971,553,911,569 moles of atoms (1 mole of Hydrogen=1g 1 mole of Oxygen= ~11g). Water's chemical formula is 2 Hydrogens and One Oxygen. One "mole" of this substance would weigh 13g. This would be 7,344,630,200,850 Litres of water. (or ~ 3.6 trillion 2L bottles of water).
And, I don't think we will try to address molecules or atoms. Electronic equipment will be enough for me.
Its probably because humans have a tendency to believe that we have more potential. Saying that we only use 10% now allows us to feel better about ourselves when we compare to the processing power of a computer.
If work on computers ever approaches that thought processes and raw input that a human does...we definitely would be in for it.
Or, perhaps, we could use this technology to augment our own. Storing memories in all their detail..storing formulas in executable form etc.
The 10% number is definitely bogus. But probably mostly psycological.
I tried a few on the localhost line. DNSAPI seems to honor them.
;)
For example:
127.0.0.1 localhost www.microsoft.com
PING www.microsoft.com resolves to 127.0.0.1 (and succeeds
and http://www.microsoft.com/ fails (resolvs to 127.0.0.1 then redirs to a search)
Move it to it's own line, and the "trigger" kicks in.
I'm running WXP SP2 (w/ all the latest patches)

They found the guy...sold over $600K on ebay, and $300K on hand.

"Ohio: Democratic party phone banking station had its phone line intentionally cut."
;)
That sounds about right
In a nutshell, Bush supporters exist in reality and Kerry supporters exist in a world filled with fluffy marshmallows.
:)
Stay tuned for the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man's attack on NYC should Kerry get elected

You know he still supports Bush *inside*.
I'm finally back up after 2 days of downtime. But, I am displeased that my bandwidth is now artificially throttled to 1.5M down :(
Its obviously a hoax, scroll to the bottom of the article and see the fact that the entire thing was written for satire purposes.....
Wait till you see Windows Millenium.... I heard that basically what you said IS a reality. (No File/Print Sharing and No Networking)
