Convincing people like my wife to trust Google will be a challenge. But if Google can build that trust, then people might have faith to move their data to a Google Desktop -- and that might make Microsoft's presumed desktop power much weaker.
The only "Google Desktop" I would consider using would be one that ran on X. And at this point windowmaker does me just fine. If google could make a window manager that was truly effective and integrated directly with their upcoming gmail/web storage, then maybe Microsoft would have to start worrying.
It has been a long time now without any major advancements in "easy" removable storage. Why has there not been a cheap and easily removable/transportable storage device with storage capacities that match the times on the market yet? There is a huge demand for something larger then 4 or 8 gigabytes, and the current optical storage we have now has been shown to be short lived.
2) Large, high-density recording capacity of 50GB or more on one side of a 12 cm disc.
This may be the answer as opposed to other methods of optical storage that have been floating around. With the accuracy of an election beam, it is no doubt that capacities would grow beyond the initial 50gigs.
I dont see the point in spending less money when the camera sucks. Buy a Canon 10D or a Nikon D100 (the D200 will be out soon). If your really into it, get a Nikon D2H or the 11 megapixle Canon 1Ds.
When a camera hinders your productivity, its a POS. I would relate the 300D to a Canon Reble X or some such low priced SLR that allows you to do.... nothing.
I am not a supporter of Microsoft and its products, but it seems sometimes that people are jealous of its success. Yes, ms stole windows from apple, but they stole it from Xerox. They played around with it, and now 93% of all computers on the earth run some version of ms windows. They were the ones who made it work, they are the ones that are making the billions, and they are the ones that make people jealous. I think we should back off, ms will fail one day, lets let them go down in flames on their own.
Why is it that once we get something nice going on, the government has to ruin it. I like the freedom of the internet. I can do what I want, and not be hassled for it. If I do something Illegal that's my risk and ill accept the consequences. What's next? Censored adult porn?
Why is everyone so set on useing Redhat, Mandrake, or SuSE? Have we forgotten the old ways of slackware or other "old-school" distributions? What about freeBSD? One of the things us linux users are against is the way microsoft makes everything so easy... But thats exactally what we are allowing ourselvs to use when we choose Redhat, Mandreake, or SuSE...
Just something to think about...
I have purchased many movies after "screening" them on my PC. Same again with music. And I regularly go to the movie theaters.

Next you will see internet sites that secretly recorded video during sex using one of these.

I never really saw what was so bad about it. I remember hearing that it had some spyware?
