Funny things is, it's not encryption that's foiling the government. It's stupidity. They had all the info they needed on the 9/11 hijackers but they ignored it. It was all in the open, nothing hidden at all. They just were too stupid to see it and too lazy to do their fucking jobs. No one got fired. Nobody! We just got the fucking Patriot act. Why? The same stupid fuckers are running things so what is that going to help. They can put a camera in every house in the US of A and they'll still fail because you can't fix stupid. The problem isn't with encryption it's with incompetent people running things. They fuck up over and over and over and over and never get fired. They just go whine about encryption and privacy like that's going to solve the problem of stupid fuckers that can't pour piss out of a boot with instructions printed on the bottom. Yeah, lets just abolish privacy, then when shit blows up what is the answer then? The Damn Russians practically handed them the Boston Marathon bomber dipshits and they couldn't handle that either. Stupid. The only thing saving us is the ISIS/Al Qaeda numbnuts are crazy and stupid too. Vicious but not all that bright or we'd be in real trouble.
I'll take the cheaper one since they'll still be spying on you regardless. I don't care if they target ads to me because I don't pay attention to ads anyway. Cynical as I am I consider all advertising to be lies and ignore anything they have to say as total bullshit because......that's what it invariably is. I love Pepsi's ads, they blow the lame ones Coke has away, but I don't buy Pepsi because to me it tastes like shit. Ads are bullshit plain and simple. I don't get why gullible people believe and listen to lies like that.
Funny, I remember web browsing and listening to mp3s on my 68040 40mhz Amiga 3000 just fine. But then it was actually designed for multitasking. When I moved to linux in 1999 it was because mainstream intel hardware was just too much more powerful. Because I was used to flawless multitasking at the time linux was the only available choice that made sense. In the decade and a half since that time I've seen great strides in linux usability but lately it seems like there are a lot of backward steps being taken. I guess it will work itself out down the road, it always has before.
I thought the whole point was that SystemD was doing too much as it was. The main objection I have heard is that it has intruded into so many places it is not needed or wanted.
"Death Squad" is a term used to describe a group of people who are sent with the express purpose of using extreme violence to kill people. They would not be there to arrest people but to perform extrajudicial killings. While SWAT teams are armored and weaponed up they are supposed to, and almost always do, use only the force necessary to subdue and arrest criminals. That said, I wouldn't try pointing a gun at them. I can cherry pick the news for incidents gone wrong but overall they do a great job. Unfortunately when they do make mistakes it's tragic and newsworthy.
Exactly! I've seen way too many "2 steps back" releases lately. Better to take your time than to screw everything up like Ubuntu did a few years ago. Features for the sake of features is worse than useless. Lets have stability and usability before all else.
I find that if I don't use my phone the battery lasts for days. Whatever happened to those fuel cells that used lighter fluid to power laptops? That's what we need for smartphones. Zippo batteries.
I don't understand rampant paranoia either. I admit there are problems in the administration of some of the intelligence agencies but to take that and then start demonizing math researchers for working with agencies charged with the defense of our country is a crazy leap.
iPads are just tools. They aren't magic. I've seen some interesting and innovative uses of iPads in education, particularly with kids with special needs. First though you have to have people who know how to use these tools and implement them into an overall educational program. Buying a bunch of anything without a plan makes no sense. This is what's special about the Rpi. They are primarily into teaching and building a community around this educational system. The maker aspect of the Rpi is just a big plus that helps build the community.
There is no excuse for this kind of idiocy. When something is obviously not a threat to then treat it like one shows that the principal is an idiot. She should have confiscated the ring and told the kid to go back to class and behave. Actually a teacher should have handled it. How it ever got to the level it did is mind boggling. I know this kind of behavior goes on all the time because kids are kids. Most teachers and principals would have handled this without all the fuss, this time it was an idiot. Unfortunately you can't filter them all out, sometimes a few get through. They should fire her immediately and replace her with someone with some sense.
I don't have a problem with your decision to not participate. I do have a problem with you condemning people who have decided to help with building the national defense. If you think that this technology is being misused that is an issue to be taken up with Congress and the President. The people that work towards building the necessary framework for the defense of the country obviously hope that their work will be used for the good of the USA. I for one look at groups like ISIS and am glad that the means to fight such evil exists.
I've known a lot of people who bought mac computers because they just got tired of all the malware and even worse junkware on PCs. All the people I know that went from PC to Mac were amazed at how there is absolutely zero crapware on new Macs. None...nada.....zilch! Why PC makers insist on crippling their own product I just don't get.
If you don't have anything to hide you shouldn't need to worry. Big Brother is just looking at...I mean out for you.

Yes consumers are that dumb and Yes AT&T is that arrogant.

Bravo!
Competition is good but if this heats up any more it could come to blows. Maybe a hostile takeover involving assault rifles. It's been done.

That answer is unacceptable. They must choose science and technology. We must force them to choose because we have these quotas that must be filled.

Police death squads? Really? I know there are some bad cops, more than a few, but ease off on the sensationalism.

Schools basically give away old windows machines. Now that they remove hard drives they're almost totally worthless. I think they bring more as scrap.

It seems like now that actual violent crime is dropping we have to invent new problems. It's like a solution in search of a problem.
It's obviously society's fault that girls don't want to program. There couldn't possibly be any other reason for this lack of interest.

This sure sounds like an April Fool's day joke.

The B+ is supposed to have addressed the USB problems. Can't say because I haven't bought one yet, I still have two of the original model Bs.
Man, you need to refill that xanex prescription soon.
It amounts to them paying them to cut their own throats. If I take money to cripple and degrade my product that's kind of crazy.
