This is the problem with living in a democracy. In a democracy once you tax people until their asshole starts to bleed they eventually get pissed off and vote you out of office. Thus we hide taxes and use all kinds of loopholes and other smoke and mirror tricks to get the same effect. If you're subtle and don't get too greedy they wont notice the blood in their underwear.
You're full of shit. The NRA doesn't cater to the crazies but the media makes sure to try and stick them on the NRA every chance they get. The NRA has a membership of over 3 million people. No doubt they have their share of nutjobs just like every large organization but the majority of them are responsible people. No one really has a problem with "smart" guns but most gun owners don't want them mandated. I am actually intrigued by the idea but I'd like the technology to mature a bit more before I purchase one.
A car is designed to bleed energy in a collision to protect it's occupants. Against flesh this helps very little as flesh is very frail compared to an automobile.
The NSA is a lot like government in general. A necessary evil. It's handy to have an idea what your enemies are up to. The problem is that they try to do too much so they get stretched too thin. Instead of concentrating on real threats they just watch everyone then filter it. They've substituted technology for spycraft and we suffer for it.
Getting caught spying on another nation is embarassing. It is not however an act of war. It is a crime but you have to be caught by the country you're spying on to get punished for it. Mostly spies just get held for trading to get back your own spies. I'd guess the Bahamas probably have a very limited espionage program though.
In the end it's cheaper to give drugs away than deal with the crime that street drugs cause. People who want to do drugs will do whatever it takes to do drugs. This includes robbery and murder. Maybe it would be better to provide them free.
I actually look at what money candidates receive and who paid it. If the people lavishing money on them are my enemy then I tend to vote for the other candidate. All too often though the other candidate is also taking big payouts from the same bastards. It's hard to win when both candidates are bought.
You do know they put the branding on them there don't you. It comes here to be sold to US consumers. I can't believe anyone is stupid enough to buy a router made in china and then shipped out of the US. You have to know the only possible reason for it to come to the US and then leave again is that it's been altered. Anyone who falls for that is so incompetent you shouldn't really need to spy on them.
I've started raising pigeons to communicate with friends. It's pretty cool, you see you take a message and fold it and attach it to the pigeons leg with a band and he flies off to home with it. Just have to watch for the hawks.
You mean that Chinese manufactured US hardware? They have to ship the crap here for the NSA to backdoor it because it's made in China. My question is do they take out the Chinese backdoors or do they leave those in with the NSA backdoors?
Is there any US made networking gear? I'd be surprised if it was more than 3 percent of the market. Maybe some high end stuff but I'd bet all the consumer grade shit is Chinese in origin. Hard to boycot made in America when it's not made in America. This article sounds like bullshit.
Well that's what I was wondering. They must import them to the US, backdoor them and then export them again. I'd bet they have chinese backdoors in addition to the US ones.
Well actually an idiot with a soldering iron will probably "brick" the weapon. It might make a nice club or hammer afterwards. Now a skilled technician with a soldering iron is another matter.
It's hard to fight the inevitable. I've seen a lot of "investment" in dying communities where they try to turn them around and start growth again. It may work sometimes but I've yet to see it.
They are voting with the endowment's wallet. If it costs the endowment money it's a big deal and if not it's no problem at all. If they did it because they feel coal is a bad investment then I praise them. If it was done as a political statement and ends up being a loss for the endowment then it's foolish. Hopefully they got a good price for the stock. Maybe they can invest it in some politically correct company like Solyndra or Amonix Solar or Abound Solar or Evergreen Solar or Ener1, the list goes on. Everyone condemns coal but it just keeps selling on and on because it actually works and is economically viable. I like the idea of Solar but it has to eventually pay it's own way. I believe it's coming one day but not nearly as soon as people seem to think.
Everything is relative. If you're making 87 cents an hour then almost any tax is high.

How many miles before you have to replace the batteries?
It's US political discussion, or what passes for it. It doesn't have to and almost never makes sense.
A 50MPH impact with a pillow would be devastating. A Ford Taurus grill would be a lot worse than that. It's all relative.

I bet they're more pissed off about AT&T buying up DirectTV.
Wonder what the repercussions would be of that? Maybe a ban on US tourists visiting the Bahamas? Wonder how many dollars that'll cost?
Don't think they wont still manage. It'll just cost more.

I'm with him. Better dead than jail in the US.

I'm sure it's against the law to spy on anyone unless you tell them about it first.

There you go, using logic. You know that's not allowed here. Apparently it's not allowed at Stanford either.
