This is the problem with living in a democracy. In a democracy once you tax people until their asshole starts to bleed they eventually get pissed off and vote you out of office. Thus we hide taxes and use all kinds of loopholes and other smoke and mirror tricks to get the same effect. If you're subtle and don't get too greedy they wont notice the blood in their underwear.

You're full of shit. The NRA doesn't cater to the crazies but the media makes sure to try and stick them on the NRA every chance they get. The NRA has a membership of over 3 million people. No one really has a problem with "smart" guns but most gun owners don't want them mandated. I am actually intrigued by the idea but I'd like the technology to mature a bit more before I purchase one.

The NSA is a lot like government in general. A necessary evil. It's handy to have an idea what your enemies are up to. The problem is that they try to do too much so they get stretched too thin. Instead of concentrating on real threats they just watch everyone then filter it. They've substituted technology for spycraft and we suffer for it.

Getting caught spying on another nation is embarassing. It is not however an act of war. It is a crime but you have to be caught by the country you're spying on to get punished for it. Mostly spies just get held for trading to get back your own spies. I'd guess the Bahamas probably have a very limited espionage program though.

Anyone who falls for that is so incompetent you shouldn't really need to spy on them.
