I remember when 8 track came out and it sucked then. Nothing like listening to a song and having the damn player change track right in the middle of it.

The thing that burns me up about all this is that with everyone screaming for the government to "DO SOMETHING," the fact is that they aren't even trying to prosecute people for blatant violations of the law. There should be a lot of bank executives serving 20+ year sentences right now but they all get a pass for some reason. It's like the 9/11 fiasco. All those people who had all the info to stop the attacks and failed to do their jobs. Did anyone get fired? Nah! Let's pass a bunch of laws to strangle the American people's freedom. I guess they're right. It's our fault for electing idiots.

Kind of like most products that are overpriced like all these chinese made shoes with Nike and other high cost brands on them that cost about 30 times what the actual cost of producing them is. Everything is that way. Overpriced cars, motorcycles, clothes, etc. Brand names sell. Who knows this better than Apple? They claim a premium on hardware that is certainly overpriced compared to most peecees even if they do have the bonus of not being saddled with Windows.

All modern bombers are designed to make low-level entry. The B-52 was originally designed for high altitude bombardment but later was given terrain following radar and other upgrades to enable low level attack. The B-1B has much more speed but really when you're down in the dirt it's all sub sonic anyway. We had a B-1 do a pass over the high school stadium here one year for Indepence Day celebration. He rolled across the north side of town on his way to the stadium which sits on the Southern side of the city. The damn thing busted windows all across the flight path and he never exceeded the sound barrier. They make so much noise it's incredible. I was glad when the noisy things went to Texas.

They've been making the leaf for a few years now. Initial cost is converting the system to electric. Once you've got the basic system laid out and debugged it's just a matter of tweaking it from then on. The big cost then is the damn batteries. I'd bet that Nissan has a better source for batteries than Fiat-Chrysler. Especially when you consider the volume the leaf is sold at. I think Fiat-Chrysler just said screw it for now and are doing the minimum necessary to comply with the government requirements. Once Tesla, Nissan and others pave the way they'll get on board fully. It requires too much capital to be a trail blazer.

I had a CV joint go out pretty early on one of them due to a torn boot that I didn't catch in time. They saw lots of hard usage and served well. I hear this extremism from people all the time "those are garbage!" when a manufacturer is below par for a standard. All in all though just because a car is not at the same level as another doesn't make it junk. The average qualtiy has risen greatly in the past 3 decades and most cars sold today will provide many miles and years of good service. I choose not to pay a premium for cars that are priced way too high for what they are. It's like tools. Snap-On makes great tools and they may be better than craftsman tools but they aren't better enough to justify the 400% or better price premium. Good enough is good enough.
