I don't get this kind of hatred for the iPhone. It's as unreasoning as the fanboys' slavish gushing praise. The iPhone is a well made, well designed piece of electronic gear. It functions superbly. Is it overpriced? Maybe. But then any object is worth only what you can get people to pay for it. I think maybe for some it's the status, for some the sleek design and for others the slick OS that functions superbly. Regardless it keeps on succeeding time after time despite all the ranting from so many apple haters. I've seen a lot of Droid users opt for an iPhone after playing with a 4S and I've seen a lot of Droid users give it a pass 'cause they are happy with what they've got. It's great to have the choice though, really.

At least they still have Microsoft to push for more powerful hardware. If the OS requirements climb above what you have it's off to buy a faster PC. Of course smartphones are fast enough for what most users need and want. The average PC has been overkill for the average user's needs for quite a while, it was the OS itself that drove upgraded hardware needs.

I don't believe he's a threat other than to bullshit someone to death but fucking around with the FBI and daring them to come after you is just fucking stupid. Sometimes you can be shot even if you attempt to flee. I know of at least one case where police mistakenly knocked down the wrong door when they got the address on the warrant wrong. They shot and killed a young mother when instead of flopping on the floor like any felon would know to do she jumped up to run like anyone who was innocent and couldn't conceive of police breaking their door down would do. Too bad, it was an honest mistake by some half trained cops. I think the lawsuit was expensive for the city though.

I think organic is great for those who want to pay twice the price for the same fruit and vegetables. I bet you don't know for sure if those "organic" fruit and vegetables are really organic though, do ya? I've grown fruit without pesticides and it's a hell of a job. Try it sometime. Don't get me wrong, I don't have any problems with people who want to eat only organic. It's the ones that try to ban pesticides for the rest of us that don't want to double or triple our food budget that annoy me.

Lithium Polymer batteries for $10? Hell a pack of good AA Disposable Alkalines cost that much. I agree $100 for a battery change is crazy. There is little doubt that Apple really isn't interested in having people use their iPhone for many years. No user replaceable battery says it all.

I had a nokia candy bar type phone way back that I literally beat the living hell out of for over a year. I cracked the face and the back cover and finally it was so screwed I had to buy another so I bought the same model on sale for $4.99 (it was a tracphone) and I used the cover off it for my old phone. With the new face and back I also had a new battery and charger for a fraction of what a new battery alone would have cost! I then used the new phone to keep a battery charged up all the time and when one got weak I just swapped in the new battery. I hated it when I finally dropped the damn thing in Lake Tobesofkee where it now resides on the bottom. I haven't had a single phone last more than 10 months in the 7 years since then. That phone could take serious abuse.

I can see that. I decided differently however because I use my media player (Samsung 5" Tablet) for movies, surfing, music and ebooks. I bought a cheapo straight talk phone from walmart for....talking on. The reason is my phone has to go everywhere I go and I destroy one about every 4 to 6 months. I hate the thought of buying a smartphone with a dual core processor and 5" screen every 4 to 6 months. I leave my tablet in a safe place when I'm engaged in work or heavy recreation or it'd die like the phones.

It's hard to compete with the Kindle for everyone else because Amazon just needs something to lock people into their book and media market so makes money without selling their tablet at a profit. Can't wait to see what happens when the 7" iPad arrives. I think Apple and Amazon may end up being the only two real players in this market when the dust settles. Both make money their own way.

The iPad 3 was bought up by a huge amount of ipad1 and iPad2 owners. I've kept a Mac computer since 2003 when I started doing video editing. I keep upgrading because they work flawlessly. For generally computing I use linux because I can make it do anything I want, it's fully open and I have total control. I don't use windows on my private machines because I use it at work. The only way I'd consent to suffer through that would be if I got paid to. For my linux hardware I like Dell's business class computers. Once you wipe the malware off of them and install a nice linux disto they are fabulous. I picked up a used D630 and it's fast and stable with Mepis on it. It had vista and the guy sold it to me for $100 because it had given him trouble continuously after an "upgrade." I think most people are like me, they use what they like and can afford. I can't afford both a mini with a Quad i7 cpu and a macbook pro so I bough the mini and a D630 which I fixed by upgrading the OS. People buy iPads cause they like them. If they liked the Kindle Fire better they'd buy it. I'd take a Galaxy tab 10 over an iPad as long as it was cheaper.
