huh? I think you've got it backwards. I'm saying that if Cisco actively participated knowing in helping provide equipment, services and knowledge that they were helping to catch political dissidents for the chinese government.....they might could be sued. If they just thought that some chinese civil service IT guys wanted to build a network then probably not. Suing a government is a little more problematic. I am sure that if say, General Dynamics sold some kind of guided bomb to Libya and the Libyan government's representative asked them to help them with problems targeting civilian populations hiding in city basements and General Dynamics reprogrammed the weapons to aid in the killing of said civilians......civil suits would be the least of General Dynamics problems. The key here is that they claim that Cisco actually worked with the chinese government to make the equipment more effective in helping to catch the persecuted dissidents. If they went further than just selling some items off the shelf and I was on the jury I'd bust 'em.
maybe they're both just going to the corner store but really which would you rather ride in? There are reasons people are willing to shell out for the porsche just like there are reasons people shell out for a Mac. Every time I see my friends new Macbook Pro I feel massive envy. I just can't justify the expense. It's much the same with cars....I'd love a Mercedes but I drive a Mercury.

I think that one misses the mark by a sight more than the cisco one. Cisco deliberately built systems to aid in the hunting down of dissidents while ford just sold cars and trucks for Officials to ride around in. I'm not buying this one at all, the first was iffy enough.
Actually the US govt. exempts itself from legal suits and all kinds of laws many, many times. In at least one case a US president (Jackson I think) actually just ignored a Supreme Court ruling. He completely blew it off.
If a guy walks into a store and says "hey I need to cut my neighbors head off, which knife do you have that would be best for the job?" You then go, "yes sir, this one right here should work nice, the serrated edge should cut right through the neck without the blade turning on the bone!" Well then you might could sue the guy who sold him the knife. I think they are alleging that this is essentially what Cisco did.
I keep mac hardware around specifically for video work. I'm using Linux for almost everything else with windows in a VM for the occasional application. I find more and more that I'm able to use linux for video work nowadays though and hope to move exclusively to Linux soon. I have always wondered why with so many studios using Linux for their workstations that there isn't more support for video applications in the Linux world.
You are absolutely right about this. It's trivial to find a cheap PC with the same basic specs as a Mac. When you set them side by side though it's like looking at a chevy cavalier with a v6 sitting next to a porsche 911. Yeah...they're both 6 cylinder cars.
I didn't say we don't have any manufacturing. Read what I said. Hi tech consumer electronics are not made in the US. When did you last buy a hard drive made in the US? Motherboard? Ram? How about a monitor? TV? Stereo? I haven't looked inside any military equipment since I got out of the Air Force back in 88 but even in the mid 80's I remember seeing almost all the chips in our gear were made in Indonesia, Japan, Taiwan and other Asian countries and I'm sure that hasn't gotten better in the last 20 years. If we get in a real war it had better not last more than a few weeks or we'll run out of parts.
Exactly. I can't watch more than a few minutes of video on a tiny little screen like that. It's not fun. It's not entertaining. I've got a 47" HDTV to watch video entertainment on. They can keep their mobile video crap.
You must be kidding. I'm not sure we actually "could" produce a computer now. That's not to mention all the other things we get from China. Let China alone and the problem will take care of itself. Sooner or later the Chinese people will do something about their government. The biggest threat to any government is it's own people and the biggest threat to any people is it's own government.
Pretty much the same Europe that spent years kissing Hitler's ass until his overwhelming appetite finally forced them to take up arms just barely before it was too late. Europe is good at doing nothing and criticizing others who do try to do something about some of the worse abuses in the world. I know I'm gonna get modded troll for this but I'm so sick of the constant bashing of the US by a bunch of elitist kiss asses who when they finally get their dick caught in the wringer want to cry for someone to save them. Sometimes I wish we had let Hitler run wild another year or two so maybe Europe would have gotten the lesson. We could have concentrated on Japan and let Europe and Russia squirm a bit longer.
I always thought Burr did us a favor. Still Hamilton's idea of strong central government is nothing compared to what is envisioned by our lords...uh...leaders in Washington today.
During the Bush administration spending and creation of more govt. agencies went out of sight. Bush wasn't a conservative, he was a radical. The problem is that they keep adding more and more bureaucracy and never seem to trim out the old. It just piles up higher and higher becoming ever more unresponsive, existing simply to survive and grow spending larger and larger sums of money.
I'm glad you don't live here either. You know, you ride what you want. It's none of my business what you drive, and it's really none of yours what I drive. One more holier than thou, know it all busybody that doesn't want to live here sure wont hurt my feelings a bit. Quit texting while you drive and maybe you'll survive.
Your reading comprehension is kinda off there or else you're obsessed with male genitalia. I did mention that I like vehicles built like tanks so that all the tiny little aluminum foil and plastic boxes favored by teenagers who text while driving will basically bounce off me. But if you have a penis fixation I could perhaps take a picture of my tool and email it to ya. I'm pretty proud of it.
Actually if you interpret the constitution literally the Federal government doesn't have those powers. All it took was getting Supreme Court Justices who interpret the constitution to mean what they want it to regardless of what it says to circumvent the entire document.
I'll take the prius. I've allready had a yota splatter off the side of my Grand Marquis and a neon splatter itself all over my rear bumper cover. 800 bucks to fix the door and I didn't even bother getting the bumper cover replaced since it just had a couple of little cuts on it that weren't even noticeable. I figure if the prius runs into me I might not even notice. Both idiot drivers were on cell phones when they hit me. I figure with all the fools on the road talking and texting I need a full frame full size vehicle. You ride in the prius, I'm keeping my GM.
Yeah, let's wait until they pen us up then see what we can do about it. Sounds like a plan. You go on and piss away your rights, I'd like to keep mine. No, we aren't under tyranny but if others had your attitude we would have been long ago.
We put them on trial in the US because due process is guaranteed by the Constitution. During war though due process gets short changed in the name of necessity. Although generally if an enemy combatant throws down his weapon and clearly demonstrates he's surrendering he might not get shot depending on how hectic things are at that moment. This quasi war on terror opens up some gray areas due to the fact that the terrorists are generally a multinational force not "openly" supported by any one nation. Generally speaking though it's been open season for terrorists since 9/11. Shoot first, questions later. It's brutal and ugly and I wish it wasn't happening but when the towers fell the world, especially for the US, changed for the worse.
Linux ATI support doesn't suck, ATI's linux supports sucks....well....actually it's more like it swallows.

I believe the plan is to drop wages to something like 2 or 3 dollars a day. Is that competitive enough for you?
I'm in a really bad mood today.

Thanks for validating my point.

Only if they vote for a Republican.....or a Democrat.

Hell yeah. I'd hope they put a cap in that Bastard!
