I saw this coming when mac went Intel over PPC. There's no way it's going to stop. There's too much money to be made selling cheap Macs. I'm only surprised that it took this long for it to start to take off. A decent, easy to use Unix OS on cheap hardware with plenty of commercial applications available. It had to happen. I don't see them going back to PowerPC either. I think that bridge burned.

Good point. Gas going over 4 bucks a gallon saved me money. I quit going anywhere. Thus I quit spending money. I cooked and ate at home instead of eating out. Watched TV instead of going to the movies. Stayed away from the mall. I just basically went to work and came home with an occasional stop at the grocery store. Of course it didn't do the restraunts or merchants in town much good since a lot of people did exactly this. I could afford the gas but I have an aversion to taking it up the ass so I simply refused to buy anymore than it took to get to work and back. 1 gallon a day, 30 gallons a month. Exactly 1 fourth of what I was buying the year before. I actually saved money on gas too!!!

They have to do this because not enough people want to buy the tiny little cars that get this kind of mileage. Without government interference they'd keep selling us the big trucks, suv's and sports cars that we want. They actually criticized chrysler for selling those jeeps. You know...one of the few bright spots that chrysler had in their lineup.

That's pretty amazing. My daughters scion got about 35mpg in all around driving. I can't even imagine something smaller than that. I always heard how great the corolla was in mileage. The one I rented got about 30mpg and I thought I was going to die from pain. I keep hearing these fantastic numbers but don't see them in reality. I think gas mileage stories are like fish stories, very exagerated.

This is BS. Most people can't even use windows properly. I used to help friends and family all the time who would screw their windows installations up 6 ways from Sunday until I finally got fed up with it and started charging money to fix windows. I'll install linux and help with problems for free because I like it and it's fun. Windows is a pain since I don't have a system at home that runs it and I have to sit and read to figure out where it's screwed up. It's amazing that I know nobody that has windows that doesn't have constant problems yet it's considered so superior to linux for newbies. It's total and absolute bullshit. The main difference is that if you have windows there is someone on every corner it seems that makes a living fixing it for you. If you have linux you have to work to find someone who knows how to fix it. I did install xubuntu on an old PIII laptop for one friend who was a total newbie. He frigging loves it after 6 months of using it. All he does is web and e-mail and chat and for that the PIII works great. If he was running windows he'd be loaded down with malware by now.

Take a look at the legal code sometime. There are laws in place that can be twisted to cover virtually any situation you can imagine. It may or may not stick, but in the meantime your under arrest. The officer acted according to the law as he interpreted it and good luck with a lawsuit. The jury is going to wonder why you were taking pictures of the inside of an ATM and a good bet is most of them will believe it was for nefarious reasons. I agree that under the Constitution he should have the right...but we're largely ignoring that nowadays.

I imagine there's a law about casing bank property for a robbery. They might not be able to make it stick but they can make you miserable. You'd be surprised how many laws there are that people aren't even aware of....but the police and DA know how to twist them to suit there purposes. They're going to assume if you're taking pictures of an ATM's insides that you're doing it to find out how it works so you can figure out how to rob one. Like I said, they may not be able to convict but they can still put you through hell. Since they will be able to show that their intent was to protect the bank's money you'll get nowhere with a law suit. If you want to try it though...luck.
