All our boxes at work are still on 7 and we're hoping they stay there. The big upgrade to Vista years back drove the IT people to their knees. They struggled endlessly to keep boxes that had been stable and working smooth before the upgrade to stay up and running for more than a few mere hours without locking up. When 7 became available it put everything right but we still remember how bad it was. At one time my shop had 13 machines and if 5 of them were working it was a good day.

In other words....it's stable. That's actually a great reason to stay with 7. As with almost any OS it's best to wait a while to upgrade because it's almost always going to be screwy at first. The exception being Vista which sucked so hard almost anything would be better.

Unless you're using it for banking or some other financial activity does it really matter? If using it as a GPS or like I do as a pocket ebook reader then who cares? I've got an old Samsung Media Player 5 that I use to read books while listening to FM radio through earbuds (It has an FM chip in it!) That way I run the battery down on it instead of my phone. I have wi-fi so if I have a hotspot available I can e-mail if I like or even browse the web and youtube. If it gets hacked so what? I don't use it for anything critical.

I believe that the majority of Muslims are just like Christians in that they just want to live in peace and get along with their neighbors. Unfortunately while the Christian Bible states that if you don't believe you'll go to hell when you die it appears far too many of the radical muslims interpret their scripture to say "if they don't believe then kill them all and send them to hell." It's impossible to get along with those people but since they are Muslim then the non-crazy Muslims take their side when it comes to a shoot out with any non Muslim country. That's a bad thing because it's one thing to let God decide what's what in the afterlife and it's entirely another thing to decide it all for God here in this life. The later causes blood to flow and lots of innocents to die in the crossfire.

And it's the media that constantly pushes our differences and tries to incite rage and anger against one side or another. All in the name of ratings. There are a lot of things in society I don't like but I've never thought of going to pull a trigger on an abortion doctor or a gay rights advocate plugging gay marriage. That's the kind of thing that turns a society into a cluster fuck like Syria is today.

Get a grip idiot. The vast majority of Republicans don't support killing abortion doctors and a significant portion actually support abortion. That's like saying all Democrats think one guy marrying another guy is normal. As for not allowing an atheist to become President I'm pretty sure that's already happened more than once although President Obama may be a closet Muslim I strongly suspect he's his own God. Hell, the majority of women who got an abortion last year consider themselves to be Christians (combined Protestant and Catholic). Don't run around spouting false bullshit. The real thing that should have happened is everyone involved should have been tried and executed. That would be a better deterrent than some supposed market force that doesn't really work since all these assholes have golden parachutes. Every single person behind covering up the continuing damage, not the initial mistake but the coverup once it was clear what was happening is a hideous monster and should be permanently removed from society. The real reason people keep doing this evil shit is that it pays and society should make it unmistakably clear that we wont tolerate it.

Most people today don't know what a ratchet or wrench is much less how to use one. It's not really that complicated and you can learn but it's so much easier to pay someone else to do it. I learned because I had no money to pay anyone. I once spent a cold winter night busting frozen knuckles changing the power steering pump on an old Chevy Malibu. I got the part for 10 bucks used at a junk yard and scrounged change for new power steering fluid. I was in tears by the time I got it on but it was necessity because it was all I could afford and I had to make it to work the next day. I love paying other people to do that shit now.

I still remember the good old days of Electronic Arts games on the C-64. I bought one that literally hammered my 1541 disk drive into misalignment. Over 5 minutes to load the game when games without DRM loaded in less than a minute. The funny thing is, it did absolutely nothing to stop piracy. It ruined the experience only for the people that purchased the legitimate software. I still have an old C64 setup and that very game with the bullshit stripped out of it loads in 38 seconds. I buy books from Baen online. They publish their books with no DRM whatsoever in any format you care for. Epub, PDF, RTF, HTML, and several others. I love giving them my money because what I buy is usable on any device I want to use it on. I bought a book from Amazon once and that was the last time. I wont buy crippled shit anymore.
