I used to religiously use buy.com, but haven't for the past year or so (not for any fault of theirs, just because I've had nothing to buy). Are they still as good as they used to be?
How does the Slashdot crowd find their banking support?
I find it very frustrating trying to do my online banking. In fact the only reason I keep a link to IE on my desktop is because my banks don't support Mozilla!. Of the two financial institutions I regularly attempt to work with online, zero of them allow me to use Mozilla. They are:
"Previously, the companies said that MAP was needed to protect independent music retailers from rising competition from discount chains such as Wal-Mart, Circuit City and Best Buy."
Oh that's right, all they were doing was looking out for the little guy. I can hardly believe that. And only $67.4M when "consumers had been overcharged by $480 million"? That's just a slap on the wrist.
Settling out of court is just the easy way out. The States gave up. The record labels admit no wrong-doing, and they will continue their practices one way or another because they were not found to have done anything wrong.
It's situations like this when I wish settling out-of-court were illegal.
I find it interesting that when the Secret Service goes around wardriving and alerting network owners of insecure networks it's okay, but then Joe "gray"-hat hacker does the same thing these same network owners attempt to prosecute the individual.
Erm, they make a program for pirating movies and music. Do you think they'll give a damn that something else they do is seen as stealing?
Actually they make a program for transfering files from machine to machine. Yes, one potential use of the program is to aid in the distribution of copywritten works (which is mostly what people use it for), but it is the users that priate the movies and music, not the program.
However, what they're doing with the commission-stealing is dispicable and most likely illegal... they should be punished for this. I'm glad I don't use any of the programs mentioned in the article.
Wow that analogy actually makes sense to someone like me:). Now, what I don't understand is how does this prevent one from sending useful "information"?
Let's say I had two of this ultra-long ping pong ball tubes, one to represent a "1" state and the other to represent a "0" state. Can't I effectively communicate in binary over that long distance faster than the speed of light using such a method?
Yeah, I do! Though it's the model 4 with a built-in monochrome screen. Now if only I could find someone that wants the three boxes full of software and manuals for thing too.
Well, from my desk I have the very distracting yet beautiful view of Lake Washington. I find myself having to close the blinds in the summer if I ever intend to get any work done.
I only wish I didn't have to wear headphones to listem to music at work. While I'm at home, blasting my music is what effectively puts me into "the zone".
Let me rephrase: better than MOST dvd's. I see a lot of shitty quality dvd's. SVCD supports MPEG2 just like dvd's and this one appeared to be encoded at a good resolution/bitrate.
I already have LOTR on SVCD... picture is DVD quality or better but sound is only stereo. Problem is, each disc holds only 45 minutes so I already have a 4-disc version:).

Continue the boycott. Spread it to your neighbors and friends. That's the only currency Bezos and other megacorp CEOs understand; the bottom line.
Say what? Have you forgotten how long Amazon.com has been in the red? Clearly, the bottom line does not matter to them.

Now, BECU is scheduled to have a brand new site out sometime in November. I can only hope that they decide to support my browser.
It's just frustrating!
Ahh cool. Luckily I use Mozilla, but I decided to open it up in IE to see what happens ;)
That page must have been designed for the spelling of the slashdot posting crowd. Did you see the keywords on the bottom?
Keywords: kbhw kbtlc kbHardware kbinfo barney barnie acti ac ta mates mate actimate actamate actamates kbimu actimates
Here's the Google cache of the page on building a fog chiller.
I'm seriously starting to think about it, especially if shit like this passes. Now, where should I go?

Hehe yeah nothing to worry about there. We can _always_ trust the government. Right.

I'm not knowledgable, just curious.
hmmm, very interesting
Does your C64 actually work? I have two, but they no longer work. I kinda want to see what kind of stupid software I wrote back when I was ten.
Yeah, I do! Though it's the model 4 with a built-in monochrome screen. Now if only I could find someone that wants the three boxes full of software and manuals for thing too.
