PNG is lossy, is it not? Raw formats and DNG are lossless. Also, raw formats store different components of the image separately -- similar to the way a component video signal is better than a composite one.
I'd like to clear things up for you since apparently you think that Disney never intended to release Fahrenheit 9/11.
Disney/Miramax produced F911 and had the distribution rights to the movie. They fully planned to distribute it. Michael Eisner (CEO of Disney) decided not to allow Miramax to distribute the movie. So, the two brothers that head up Miramax bought distribution rights to F911 from Miramax and formed a company (Fellowship Adventure Group) to distribute it.
Eisner's reasons are his own, but it is easy to see they were probably political. F911 fit in with the Miramax brand (as I explained in my previous post) and has made over $112 million dollars at the box office as of September 5. There was no business reason not to distribute it.
I voted for Browne (Libertarian) last time around. I never would have voted for Gore. Without Browne, I probably would have voted for Bush. However, Bush has done everything (domestically) that I was afraid Gore would do and more. At least Gore wouldn't rape the environment like Bush has. So, this round I'm voting Kerry.
Right. Disney made an excellent business decision by turning down millions of dollars of profits by not distributing Fahrenheit 9/11. It had nothing to do with politics.</sarcasm>
Although, that said, I've never used a Next Cube, but I understand they were marketed for single user desktop use, which in my book means they are PCs (or at least, personal computers).
Which was my point. I think Tim Berners-Lee was a serious (not computer) scientist and he was using a Next Cube to develop a way of easily retrieving information from his and others' mainframes.
And the OS I use isn't a close relative, it's the latest version of that same OS that was used on the Next.
Would a Next Cube be considered a PC? I would, because it's present day brother would be my PowerMac G5. And a Next Cube is the PC that Tim Berners-Lee used when developing the Web.
DVDs are digital versatile discs. They do have other uses besides movies. I think the measurement was meant to convey how much faster this transmission was than sending the same data backed up to DVDs which is the highest capacity recordable media most familiar to the general public.
The UI is fine, but the learning curve on my Nomad is only marginally longer than that of the iPod and I personally prefer the placement of the controls on the sides.
If ANY of the other already existing MP3 players had received the kind of marketing push the iPod got, they could have easily become the "gold standard."
These are the points I was refuting with my story about how well designed the Ipod is. Had the great grandparent poster said he couldn't afford an Ipod, that would have been a good reason, but he didn't. Then again, I guess I could have pointed him (or you) to Apple's Special Deals page.
Can you play, pause, skip a song, and go to the previous song all while the Nomad is in your pocket and you're controlling it through your pants? You can do that with the Ipod.
Word can do this, but it does it in the most braindead way I've ever seen. It's almost like this is so rare they never bothered making a halfway usuable interface for it. And it's as buggy as hell to boot. Update all fields on the page and you still have to update the fields on the headers and footers separately.
How do you do that? I've been searching for it when writing design documents.
I gave up on Word a long time ago. I use a simple text editor (sometimes in HTML) for everything I write except the stuff at work that needs to be in a format that is published as Word templates.
They do when they're submitting their resume electronically. There are also many other times that you might want to convert your document that you wrote and edited in a word processor to plain text.
I have to adjust my antenna in order to pick up different stations. How did your Tivo handle that? Also, do they make a Tivo that can record OTA HDTV? I have an HDTV set and get all of my programming OTA.
Adobe invented PostScript. Are you saying that they shouldn't have also invented PDF to replace it? I'm glad they did.
No.

You're giving Lucas way too much credit.

It would have been released under their Miramax brand which Fahrenheit 9/11 completely fits in with. Miramax also released Pulp Fiction.

You forgot: Damned non-Americans that complain about an American web site being American-centric.

OK, but for land-to-land information transmittal a Porsche Cayenne Turbo full of DVDs should still beat Internet 2.
The world is buying their music from the Itunes Music Store which uses Protected AAC -- not WMA.

The fact that the power supply is built into the unit instead of being a separate power brick is why this thing can be easily mounted on a wall.
Aren't you special.
Quicktime penetration is the benefit Apple reaps.
Here is another example of Apple giving back to the community.

If you were on a Mac, you could use Command+Option+V instead of Command+v -- but not in Word. :( I just use TextEdit.
"Hey Apple! Don't break my iPod." is Real's title, not one of the Mac users'.
