Don't you know, it's politically correct to discriminate against white men. It's only racism if the person isn't white, and sexism if the person isn't male..
>However, we were given the option of continuing on the old requirements >(for which courses were offered), or switching to the new requirements.
That happened at my school (University of Colorado) as well; the curriculum was changed to focus more on electrical engineering, but the students already in the program had the choice of whether to stay with the old program, which I did, or switch to the newer one. Given that classes taken under the old program might not apply to the new one, I wouldn't think any reputable college would make you switch without plenty of warning..
>Anti-virus software is almost useless for a home user, unless they are incredibly stupid
Oh, I wouldn't say useless. I have the need to open files (mostly Word files) from various people, and occasionally my virus scanner catches something. Granted, there's nothing irreplacable on the computer for the virus to screw up, but it WOULD be an annoyance. I'd rather have the antivirus program running than risk having to spend a lot of time restoring data.
Heh...oddly enough, I ALSO just finished a course using that book (just got my grade a few minutes ago, actually...couldn't believe I got an A for that course). Word of advice...if you tend to procrastinate like I do, never, never, NEVER take a design class online..
Addition: I doubt if anyone thinks that legality had anything to do with what either side was trying. Both Bush and Gore were trying to count the ballots they thought would help them and throw out the ones they thought wouldn't. Bush was just better at it.
>Next time you act like a party hack try to at least know what youre talking about first..
You mean, ignore little facts like some military ballots being sent after the election ended, when it became clear how close the voting in Florida would be?
Although, I know if I mailed in my ballot and it wasn't recieved until after the election, I wouldn't expect it to be counted...
You know, they say the use of profanity/namecalling indicates that one has lost the argument. Personally, I voted for candidates from both parties (and some third party candidates as well), but I call 'em as I see 'em.

hmm. I generally spend around 75 minutes driving to and from school. (total time, round trip) Figure you can save quite a bit of time by flying in a straight line and not having to stop at the lights, and it should be able to make the round trip.
Of course, I suppose the school might object to my landing it on a roof...but hey, you know what parking in Denver is like;-)

Personally, since I haven't yet gotten around to installing Mozilla, I just avoid sites that use popup advertisements. My favorite web comics I support by buying thier books; the authors I like don't seem to care for popups either.
Right...I buy textbooks online (can save up to 50% over bookstore prices), CCGs (again, close to 50% less), and anything I can't get locally.
Having to pay tax wouldn't make me stop buying online - many things would still be cheaper - but with having to pay tax AND shipping, I'd probably buy less.

Democrats asked for the initial order because some precincts in Pulaski County ran out of ballots.
In other words, people are showing up on time and not being able to vote because the equipment isn't working/available. The Democrats are trying to fix the problem, and the Republicans are trying (successfully, it seems) to stop them.
Florida, anyone?

I would imagine the reason to be that anybody who needs to vote after 7:00 either had to work late (and as you said, the common man tends to vote Democratic) or is a college student and was in class all day (and of course, we know conservatives love to complain about how highly educated people - college professors - tend to be liberals)
But of course, we all know you can't vote after the polls close...unless of course, you're in the military...

Actually, I'm terrified by the possibility of the Republicans taking control of the Senate. IMO, Bush is doing enough damage now; having a Republican-controlled Congress to rubber-stamp everything he does is NOT something I'm in favor of.
Well, it certainly makes it sound wonderful; lower cost, less pollution, less effect on the environment. So what are the downsides to this technology? I refuse to believe that anything can be 100% wonderful..
Right. Put a tennis ball in a bucket and spin it in a circle. Unless you go too slowly, centrifugal force will keep the ball from falling out while the bucket is upside down.
(I don't know if that's how they do it in B5 - I'm not a steady viewer - but it seems the logical way to get "gravity" when not on a planet)
But yes, if you're planning on being off Earth for an extended period (and coming back) then you'll need a significant amount of gravity wherever you're staying.
Of course, I suppose people might choose to emigrate to the moon permanently. Although, if they don't do that AFTER having families, thier children might get a bit annoyed at them..

Are you sure it was "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress"? I've read it a couple times and I don't remember ever seeing anything like that..
I was happy when AOL started sending out CDs instead of floppies. I turn them over and use them for coasters.

Here's my idea of a sensible contract:

The cutoff part should be, you still need to be able to read Italian :-)

Science fiction writers did that decades ago ;-)
