It seems like since he couldn't have known, it didn't affect the situation at hand
While Zimmerman wouldn't have know about it, it can inform our calculus of who started the fight. Martin was a drug-abusing hothead in a downward spiral with a penchant for starting fights. The courts have rules about evidence like this as being 'prejudicial', but I disagree with them. The jury never heard exactly what kind of person Martin was to help them assess what happened.
What I'm wondering is why that law didn't give Martin the right to stand his ground when Zimmerman pursued him?
Stand Your Ground applies after some attacks you. All the evidence indicates that Martin started the fight by sucker-punching Zimmerman in the nose. (Martin had no injuries other than to his fist and the gunshot wound.) Thus, Martin wouldn't have the benefit of Stand Your Ground; Zimmerman would. However, the defence never asserted it.
ESRI would have gotten away with it if they had just taken the Microsoft path of stuffing the committees with Yes-men. I'm sure the OGC procedures would have been completely defenseless against this and the OGC management would have been overjoyed to collect $10k per temporary yes-man.
FACTS: Worldwide 15% of CO2 emissions are from personal vehicles
FACT: 97% of CO2 emissions are natural. Therefore, 15% cannot be coming from cars; it's 15% of 3% or 0.45%. You might want to be more careful about your phrasing.
The limitation of liability in Canadian cases is $5k for all infringement in a court case for non-commercial copyright infringement, but the more likely "get" is just $100. When their first "successful" case goes through the court system with a judgement of $100, it will make the news headlines and their business model will be destroyed.
Is it worth throwing a minimum of 5-8 years of your life away for money?
If AAPL had gone up, the guy would be a conquering hero raking in $millions in surprise bonuses. It's the same method Dr. House used to avoid punishment. Too bad this guy didn't realize that Apple is out of steam.
Nerval's Lobster writes "The one and only Jeff Cogswell is back with a new article comparing the two biggest competitors in the home-computing business: the Commodore 64 and the Radio Shack TRS-80. What does he have to say about these absolutely cutting-edge machines? The TRS-80 simply can't stand up to the awe-inspiring Commodore 64, which features the latest processor from MOS Technology, the 6510. Best of all, the C-64s graphics processor can display up to 16 colors simultaneously, and it can create a full screen made up of 320 x 200 'dots.' But the TRS-80 has some good points, as well, including a whopping 512 K of memory (not that you'll ever use that much, anyway). As Cogswell writes: 'Let's cover these two bad boys and provide a totally unbiased review unencumbered by any alleged kickbacks (including a brand new daisy wheel printer and a case of Schiltz Beer) from Commodore, the maker of the awesome machine known as the Commodore 64.'"
Climate Science really isn't a science. In real science, a model is developed and then it is confirmed against reality through many experiments run in many independent labs. With Climate Science, there is exactly one experiment which will take hundreds of years to complete. With Climate Science, computer models are substituted for experiments and the computer models miraculously confirm the theoretical models which they encode. Meanwhile, reality continues merrily along without regard for the circular computer-model "experiments", and in the short term anyway, reality is defying the computer models.
Also in real sciences, the models become progressively more accurate over time and converge on a good answer. With Climate Science, the models have become more and more divergent from reality over time. Perhaps it should be reclassified as a Political Science.
Is ending subsidization really going to appeal to the mass consuming public? How many teenagers have $650 for a new iPhone? You'd think they'd offer some kind of optional secondary loan plan where you pay off a little bit every month, or owe the whole amount if you want to change carriers.
Ahead of where it is now, of course, if it has chosen to pursue Android instead of Windows.
How much further ahead would Nokia be if the 1020 had been an Android phone?

The equivalent claim here would be that earthquakes don't happen. Are you asserting this?
If OS support is important to you, then go with Google's Nexus Android devices. They always get quick updates.
... for the buggywhip makers.
When do we get to start rating individual taxi drivers? There are a few of them I'd like to never be matched with again!
The same reason they gave up Itanium for the AMD64 architecture?
Not only that, but it's very clearly a joke. This guy needs to be compensated $1M by the state for malicious prosecution.
Let's see. With Apple, you can target 100% of 17% = 17% of phone buyers, whereas with Android you can target 75% of 75% = 56% of phone buyers.
And what exactly do you think a human being is? It's a robot with a computer brain that has been programmed to simulate 'feeling' things.
I read the headline as "Threaten [to cause] Academic Freedom".

And yet you have enough money to pay off the ridiculous extortion demand?

No need to create one.
The reputation of being the best-managed advanced economy on Earth?

... that would have netted them $150,000.00.

The first thing I thought of was GBU-57 MOP. No need to risk any soldiers or police officers.

He's lucky he didn't get Gitmo'd for being a terrorist attempting mass murder.
