why does evry problem in life have to be solved by creating a free and open market?
I for one think that there are some things that can not be solved simply by attaching a price tag to it.
do you want to polute? how much money do you have to buy pollution credits? do you want to send email? how much money do you have to buy a warenty? do you want to get laws passed how much money do you have to "lobby" with.
I would like toremind you that the ethics of a company is not determined jsut by how it treats its customers.
I currently work for an evil company, and they are not evil just because they disrespect the customer, they are evil because they also direspect there employee's.
so treat everyone you deal with with respect, and try to be fair also

I totally agree with you that this would be a total bullshit invasion of privacy, I am just saying there are probably lesss problems with actually implimenting it than you let on.

hey wow that is a cool idea. but why not try to intigrate it into jabber. you know have some server run a translater from jabber client to web-log. that would be all kinds of fun.
first the word "ENTERPISE" is a pet peeve of mine. exactly what does it mean? as far as I can tell, its supposed to mean high end software with every feature possible and a much lower than average bug count.
but that dosen't tell you if ie5 is a large enough target market, and itdoesn't tell you if a plugin is acceptable to use.
If you have 100% control over the machines you will be installing on then yes ie5 is an aceptable taget.
it is always acceptable to expepect the user to intall a plugin if 1. your software is a useful AND 2. your software will be used many many times. don't expect a user to install some fucking plugin to visit your site once.
as for the technical aspect. I would use java, based completely on the fact that I know how to use java. there would be a huge learning curve for me to use flash, or SVG....but I'm not the issue.
go to the guy who is going to do the coding and ask him what technology they know best.
I nearly Failed 4th Year of university because of Games. for 2 months straight I didn't go to class, all I did was play video games. then one day I showed up to EM-4 and some body asked how I had done on the midterm. the thing was I didn't even know there had been a midterm. sigh.... I managed to squeek by with 50's in most of my classes, but still. the study is full of shit games suck, and will lower your grades, trust me!
