  1. Hey! on AT&T Wireless Phone "Upgrades" Aren't · · Score: 1

They must have some sort of cross-licensing agreement with Sprint. That happens to me too! Isn't it great how corporations are still willing to get together and share different technologies?

THESE Republicans cannot be trusted. There have been (and still are) a few Republicans that can be trusted. Blanket Statements are bad. (Not that I like the majority of Republicans that are around these days.)

  3. Why Treat the Net Like Other Mediums? on Commercials Come To The Net (After This Word) · · Score: 1

Honestly, why? The 'net is too different from radio and television to be treated the same way. I would wager that the majority of people for whom these ads would work do not have broadband, and (I'm guessing/assuming here as well) that the majority of users who do have broadband have it for reasons other than viewing stupid ads. It's like paying extra for cable so your television-watching experience can be more inconvenient and wasteful. I, for instance, have broadband because I enjoy instant-on and always being connected. Pages load instantly. I can check the weather in my area in about 5-10 seconds (and download pr0n in 30). If I have to watch a 30 second ad before seeing what I actually want, I'll go elsewhere. If all the websites I normally hit up start doing that, I'd probably just find other sites or other means to find what I'm looking for. Isn't there a better way to keeps sites afloat than by bombarding their users with ads? Can't we develop a better system for sustaining content on the net that doesn't cause it to become less user-friendly and more intrusive?

That's exactly the sort of logic some drugged up leftist commie-hippy would use!
  7. Re:reception on FCC Still Pushing for Number Portability on Nov. 24 · · Score: 1

Yeah, Sprint has terrible reception both in Austin and the Dallas/Fort Worth area. If I'm anywhere near a couple of hills or, you know, at my house I cannot get decent reception at all. I initially thought it was my phone, but I just got a Sanyo 6200 from one of my friends and switched to that and still have the same problems. As soon as number portability hits, I'm switching to (most likely) T-Mobile. My roommate has flawless reception everywhere with them, and he doesn't even have one of their top-of-the-line phones.

So the guy was 21 and living in his own apartment... he wasn't exactly making the big money, so it's likely he wouldn't be able to afford a new computer... 10. Puts Morpheus debacle in new light... on Distributed Computing Program Hidden in Kazaa · · Score: 1

Now that we know this, it's interesting to think about that Morpheus v. Kazaa debacle. The real reason Kazaa blocked Morpheus probably wasn't the add revenue from garnering a larger userbase. It was to force everyone onto their network, allowing them more CPU cycles that they can sell as a service. And who wants to bet there are plenty of corporations that would just LOVE to outsource something like this, and would be willing to pay big ca$h money... Actually fairly slick (dirty, sneaky, underhanded?) business-wise, and I was wondering when someone might come up with P2P/distributed combo app... seemed like a natural progression of the online applications as they stand... although the whole implementation stinks of a complete lack of morals, but hey, it's Kazaa!
