Too many 16 year olds are convinced the entire world's out to get them and there's no hope for the future. It makes them vulnerable. The extra two years gives them some time to think about their future before we open them up to sex, drugs (tobacco at least) and war.
because a) their reasoning abilities aren't fully developed and b) they've got between 60-90 more years of life left and decisions made when you're 16 and unable to process the consequences will impact you for that time. It's got nothing to do with education and everything to do with our society progressing.
200 years ago we needed them cranking out babies ASAP because they were likely to die in their 30s. But even then folks knew there was something off with a man twice their age showing interest, but if the man had enough money folks looked the other way because of rampant poverty.

This would be a non-story if there wasn't a media engine pushing a narrative that there is some kind of anti-right wing bias in the world. Given that virtually all media outlets are owned by people who are themselves right wing, that all branches of government are in the hands in the right wing and that our fundamental political system has safeguards in it to discourage left wing activism (e.g. the Senate, the Electoral college and lifetime SCOTUS appointments ) nothing could be further than the truth.
America's institutions have a severe pro-corporate, right wing bent to them. This is just a fact. One that those institutions spend billions trying (successfully I think) to deny....
they haven't been able to replace The Walking Dead. This is one of those cases where the management knew bad juju was coming and let it come with little or no effort to address it. It's not even that folks don't want these kinds of games (Life is Strange did very well). They cranked out a few more licensed games but noone can survive on licenses since sooner or later the license holder either lets the property die or takes back the rights.
