when the wiki page says gas plants cost $1900/kilowatt vs $5000/kilowatt.... That's the only part I don't get. Is this just building in alternative sources for better grid reliability?
and as far as I know they haven't. You'd also expect Uber drive's to see higher hourly pay, but it's around $9 bucks/hr. But that looks to be in line with the figures from 2016. Maybe a little less if inflation is taken into account (remember inflation is higher for low paid employees since big ticket items like new cars have less inflation than food/rent/healthcare or even used cars).
nobody knows since the data is _only_ monthly. It's just as likely that there are so many Uber drivers now that they're crowding each other out and nobody can make a living. Well, strike that, it's more likely. That's why medallion systems were created in the first place, e.g. to make sure the streets weren't flooded with drivers every time the economy dipped.
compared to what they're spending on Mergers & Acquisitions. That's where the real non-compete comes from. I don't remember the last big tech company that didn't just get bought out. That's the trouble with letting these companies hold onto so much cash. They don't have anything to spend it on except buying out competitors. Not since Bell Labs have they felt the need to put real money into basic research...
and hippies. There's multiple and well sourced quotes from Nixon talking about it. And plenty of discussion around how Marijuana policy was used to get rid of Mexican temp workers once the growing season was over. This is why a rich white guy pulled over with some pot goes to drug rehab and a poor black guy jail.
28 years. Yeah, yeah, I know, go get the law changed if I don't like it. That'd be great if I wasn't going up against multi-billion dollar corporations and a heavily rigged system of democracy...
or in this case the Texans. America is a Democracy.
For me the question is, "At what age of your daughter would you feel comfortable knowing she is having sex with someone older than her". Two 16 year olds in the back seat is legal. Swap out one of the 16 year olds for a 32 year old and Houston, we've got a problem...
come in earlier so the older kids could come in later. That would make the day care situation worse, not better. That's more than likely why people complained about the change. That plus most folks build their work hours around their kids.
is very, very pro-gun. He hasn't inconvenienced anyone. If anything the current ruling party is happy to have him. And as has been pointed out elsewhere on this forum he's being charged in Texas. Assange was almost certainly set up, but it's likely that Wilson got popped because he want to Taiwan in search of underage prostitutes and, well Taiwan and much of Asia is trying to shake the whole "sex tourism" thing and become a more family friendly tourist destination. Families spend a heck of a lot more money on Holiday than single dudes looking for cheap sex...
it gives time enough to get out of high school, to be sure you've had a chance at an education and maybe seen a future for yourself. Too many 16 year olds are convinced the entire world's out to get them and there's no hope for the future. It makes them vulnerable. The extra two years gives them some time to think about their future before we open them up to sex, drugs (tobacco at least) and war.
because a) their reasoning abilities aren't fully developed and b) they've got between 60-90 more years of life left and decisions made when you're 16 and unable to process the consequences will impact you for that time. It's got nothing to do with education and everything to do with our society progressing.
200 years ago we needed them cranking out babies ASAP because they were likely to die in their 30s. But even then folks knew there was something off with a man twice their age showing interest, but if the man had enough money folks looked the other way because of rampant poverty.
to capitulate. Did they buy off a bunch of them? Sounds like it. I can't imagine why else a lobbying group for farmers would do the exact opposite of what their constituents want.
they've been doing that for ages on their Youtube platform. As for search results they maintain they use a proprietary algorithm that focuses on putting the most desirable search results first (minus things removed due to legal constraints like DMCA or European privacy laws) and based on the article that is correct. Specifically somebody said "Let's modify our algorithm to fight Trump) and Google management said "No, because our algorithm is supposed to generated correct search results based on ranking, no politics".
This would be a non-story if there wasn't a media engine pushing a narrative that there is some kind of anti-right wing bias in the world. Given that virtually all media outlets are owned by people who are themselves right wing, that all branches of government are in the hands in the right wing and that our fundamental political system has safeguards in it to discourage left wing activism (e.g. the Senate, the Electoral college and lifetime SCOTUS appointments ) nothing could be further than the truth.
America's institutions have a severe pro-corporate, right wing bent to them. This is just a fact. One that those institutions spend billions trying (successfully I think) to deny....
they haven't been able to replace The Walking Dead. This is one of those cases where the management knew bad juju was coming and let it come with little or no effort to address it. It's not even that folks don't want these kinds of games (Life is Strange did very well). They cranked out a few more licensed games but noone can survive on licenses since sooner or later the license holder either lets the property die or takes back the rights.
is either that the holy spirit works within the heretics or that the heretic knows that their religion is the one true one but doesn't want to profess belief because of either social pressure or a desire to sin.
If you ask me it's working backwards from the conclusion but that's their argument.
if founded on debt, specifically mortgages, right? And what about medical debt? Most bankruptcies are from it you know?
Class war is centuries old. It came before Marx and it continued after his death. You're strawmaning now. Throwing in the much hated SJW. Building up an enemy to direct hate at. You're either a well practiced troll or you're being manipulated by one to push their agenda. If you're just being manipulated then please, go read this. It describes the techniques being used to manipulate you. Russia's the subject of the article but they're by no means the only ones using these techniques.
Now, if you're just a troll, or worse one of the ones working for the ruling class as foot soldiers in their army, well, all I can say is that they will not treat you well after the war is won.
After the shit show that was the Net Neutrality comment period? Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice and.. well... You can't fool me again.

I think of the dominate player in a space buying up all potential competition with little or no regulatory oversight.
but you're doing more trips per hour that's not necessarily a good thing either. It means more wear and tear on their cars for less money.

Snapchat is from 2011. So we're looking at 7 years in what's supposed to be the fastest moving industry in human history.

in this context. It means developed at or near the full extent of the individual. It doesn't mean turning into Albert Einstein or something.

16 years old is certainly a child.

Folks don't seem to realize how many evangelicals America has. Our Vice President is a Dominionist, for example.

of the F-35. A lot of money spent for little or no ROI. e.g. more money tossed to the MIC while funding's cut to the VA back home.
