I have several cf-to-ide adapters by pc engines and they all work with dma. Of course, these are also the same guys that make the "WRAP" boards, so maybe they know what they are doing.
it's also not a huge gob of python like zenoss which requires at least 512 megs of ram to run and do something useful.
zabbix server and clients are written in C, with php for the web front-end. It has it's quirks and shortcomings, but I'll take simple and lightweight over bloaty probably-can't-scale-worth-a-damn any day.
now, if only there were hundreds, nay thousands of hosting providers out there that offered F/OSS blogs and such...
F/OSS CRM? you must be joking, or severely google challenged. sugar, vtiger and others I'm sure. you can even SHOP TEH INTARWEBZ for those that offer hosting and support for them.
the casing on one of my flash/thumb/pen/whatever drives was just stupidly big for no good reason, so I took it off. To protect it I just got some clear 5 minute epoxy and layered it on there and just kept turning the the drive while it cured.
You can also put a lanyard hole in a dead space on the board or epoxy something in there and hang it on your keychange. It's working quite well for me.

Well then, dare I say those considering Windows should take a look at what Vista does with OpenGL. Namely, how it does away with it and emulates it by converting OGL to Direct3d.

interesting. i'm involved with a project right now which is based around moving "tags", if you will. We are fairly sure zigbee (or something quite similar) is the way to go, and have spoken with multiple companies whose engineers think this is doable with a little coding.
we're not in need of realtime data, a few minutes between samplings will do, but we do have a rather high tag number (thousands) requirement.

The last time I checked, the catholic church is far more interested protecting it's predatory clergy than any children. And when confronted about such abuses and the ensuing coverups, the catholic church does what any major corrupt organisation would do: deny it, call them isolated incidents, white wash it, boldly lie about it, and most of all, refuse to do anything about it (not necessarily in that order).
I'm not in school anymore, but I'm always in need of such a program, as I do not posses a photographic memory.
I build and maintain networks, and whatever else happens to need doing network or computer wise. I don't do the same thing day in, day out. A good part of my working hours are spent just-in-time learning, so I can finish the job at hand. And tomorrow, it'll be something else. Notes for me are a necessity.
As such, my laptop goes where ever I go. It's also been my experience that paper doesn't travel well via email, it's a bitch to backup, handwriting styles and quality vary greatly, and it's very imprecise ( hmmn, is that a dot, a comma, or just a glob of ink? )
i ran across these guys http://laplocker.com/ on the mac hardware site a week or two ago. supposedly, you can lock a laptop down with it without having to drill holes and such.
they're supposed to have an ipod version in the works too.
Although, i'm not sure I'm looking forward to their 'chastity' line of products.:o

RouterOS is linux based with a very nice console interface as well as a windows client.
It does all the usual linux fw stuff, as well as traffic shaping, connection rate limiting, traffic identification, rip/ospf/bgp, vpns, lots more.
Unique features include a scripting host and cron-jobs. Very cool, indeed.
They also make their own hardware (expandable sbc's, wifi) with their routeros embedded in flash.

having to jump between db's can be a pain in the arse, but something like a rr diag would make this a lot easier.

then again, existing protocols have things like existing code, libraries, api's, references, and oh yes, people that already know them.
and not all zigbee stacks are monolithic. it is possible to use just what you need. if your vendor says it can't be done, look for another.
