CONAKRY, GUINEA—With the death toll in West Africa continuing to rise amid a new outbreak of the Ebola virus, leading medical experts announced Wednesday that a vaccine for the deadly disease is still at least 50 white people from being developed. “While all measures are being taken to contain the spread of the contagion, an effective, safe, and reliable Ebola inoculation unfortunately remains roughly 50 to 60 white people away, if not more,” said Tulane University pathologist Gregory Wensmann, adding that while progress has been made over the course of the last two or three white people, a potential Ebola vaccination is still many more white people off. “We are confident, however, that with each passing white person, we’re moving closer to an eventual antigenic that will prevent and possibly even eradicate the disease.” Wensmann said he remained optimistic that the vaccine would not take considerably longer than his prediction, as waiting more than 50 white people for an effective preventative measure was something the world would simply not allow.

As a resume reader, I'll be honest. I'm not sure what I like less, an empty resume or a resume that says you worked at the help desk.

If you have an education and what was a bill-paying job in college (that happened to be tangential to your programming career), your resume had better be filled with descriptions of the programs you wrote, or the roles you played on development teams -- even if those programs were just written by your study group in college.

If you're having trouble with recruiters, focus heavily on the languages you've worked in and the types of contributions you've made programming in those languages.

Gotta put something other than "Attended college 2010-2014" :/

Sure, you can fall off a ladder pulling toilet paper our of your trees, but the goal was to show a little love. [Somewhere hazing becomes having a guy drink himself to death, but few of us have died of toilet paper related injuries.] We turned a few cars sideways in parking spaces and gave a few swirlies in our days -- but the worst consequence (outside of a few suspensions) was inconvenience. Tie a few outside doors to trees, blow some baby powder under some dorm doors... ...but lets try to stop deliberately hurting each other.

The best practical joke I was ever involved in I was the victim - or among them anyway. We had TP'd a house. Nothing too serious. A handful of kids and an 8-pack of toilet paper. We live in Arizona, so some cactus and palo verde trees were involved, but otherwise we just messed up a lawn. It rained that night. We had made a pretty good mess. The kid, not entirely sure who had TD'd him, concocted and spread a story that his father had, in the subsequent clean-up, fallen from a ladder and hurt his back, had to miss a few days of work, etc. etc. He sold the story pretty well...well enough that we bought it. Each of us took turns apologizing and confessing our role.

The questionnaire is linked and fairly boring. In fact, it spends questions 1-31 asking pretty benign stuff, then has a quick one-page two-question "have you been harassed" block, with some follow-up questions like "If yes to #31, was the offender your superior, peer or subordinate."

There's no asking if you have both male and female subordinates, or if management is primarily male, or if you only have female peers; so there's no way to tell if male peers are more of less "dangerous" than female subordinates or any other combination you might want to figure out.
