  1. The problem is not the quality on Too Much Free Software · · Score: 1

Yes. Granted there could be a little more availability in linux. I happen to like mpg123 for my music. The problem is the availability of the software. When my grandpa buys a Dell and plugs it in. Windows starts, ask him what time it is and he ready to go. Why use nestscape when internet explorer is a click away. theres virtually no difference between the two. what we need is to make free software like linux, and mozilla easier to come by, instead of 1000 hours of free AOL at wal-mart get a Mozilla Cd.

  2. If Software was written better... on Can Your PC Become Neurotic? · · Score: 1

If software was written better nowadays we wouldnt have this problem. Microsoft's recent 32 bit Line of Operating Systems, 2000,XP. Are pretty good, linux is the same. the problem was back in the days of 95, and 98. it was a 32 bit shell running on a 16 bit operating system. that would make any sane system go crazy. Another reason is pointers in the program. Theres no way that every pointer in windows or it's applicatons is pointing to the right place.

There is an open source build of the NT Kernel,it doesnt work very well now but it has a good future. it is called ReactOS You Can get it here

  5. Sound to good to be true... on Lycoris - Linux for the Masses? · · Score: 1

No matter what any body says. Linux is too geeky of an os for the gerneral public to use. Imagine your 7 year old son that just got a brand new joy stick trying to load in a kernel module. Granted modules have gotten a little bit simpler but i still dont think there ready for the masses.

  6. Typical on First, WinModems. Now, WinWiFi. · · Score: 1

That's microsoft's typical way of putting somethign out of business. All i gotta say is the Kernel programmers better start making modules to support them.e.g. Windows Drivers

  7. If we dont like the idea... on Lindows - Where's the Source? · · Score: 2, Interesting

Then all we gotta do is not use lindows.

  8. ? about LFS on A Walk Through the Gentoo Linux Install Process · · Score: 1

i have a rather decrepid linux box.. 66 mhz 16 megs of ram.. although i did manage to get a 515 and a 630 meg hard drive into it.. i currently have slackware 7.1 on it. would i have enough disk space to put all the packages on one partition (the one with slackware) and do an install on to my second hard drive. In short would i have the space to have LFS source unpacked on my first hard drive

All i gotta say is unless you got some slick KDE menu editor (newer versions) you be prepared to edit some config scripts.
