Not fun reading, but worth reading anyway.

an internal server error isn't my kind of reading either.

  3. Re:Must be a slow news day at /. on Office Depot: Windows XP Apps Must Be Microsoft-Approved · · Score: 0

True, but many people must buy merchandise at Office Depot. That's why they're a thriving company(?), right? I bet there are more people running computers with 64MB of RAM, a Pentium II, and Windows 98, than there are with people running P4 3.06GHz w/ hyperthreading, and a gig of ram along with Windows XP. Well, maybe I'm exaggerating, but there is still a valuable market in software for slower computers with slightly older operating systems, don't you agree?

I wonder if Apple will ever decide to use the amd opteron cpu. It would be wonderful if i could run, macOS whatevermaysupportthehammer, a 64 bit version of windows, and linux on the same machine. i know its a complete rumor, but a 64 bit x86 version of macos would be kickin, to say the least.

How the hell does chess in 3d do anything?

I think it has something to do with making chess more interesting than it actually is. I really don't think chess was ever really meant to be a spectator (sport ?).

I totally agree. It seems like they are unsuccessfully re-inventing the wheel. P.S. to record companys, try it with circles next time.

  8. When CDs are eight bucks again... on Microsoft Introduces Its Own CD Copy-Inhibition Scheme · · Score: 1

which surely they won't, I might think about buying music that was produced by record companys with cash oozing out of their ass-cracks. But of course, that's not going to happen, so I guess I will have to download the songs I like, illegally, from people who have ripped these songs on to their computer and re-distribute them, also illegally. I would rather break the law and do what I want with music, rather than record-companys selling me crap that can only work on some kind of Palladium-like OS , or trusted players, which will be very few, which is increasing the chances of more monopolies. All of this just because they failed to look at their own problem, CDs are too damn expensive! Instead of blaming us for their own problems (the community who downloads music for only the price of their internet connection), why can't they see that their alledged money problems aren't do to the listeners?

  9. meh on Falcon's Eye: a Make-over for Nethack · · Score: 1

I've played it, and it seems as if the walls are always in the way. Also, that damn pet dog of yours gets in the road way more often. going straight requires the 7, 9, 1, and 3 keys, while going not so straight requires the 8, 4, 6, and 2 keys. I really like the 2D version of nethack, IMHO.
