I'm not really sold on that, to actually live in San Fran on 100k.. is not reasonable unless you're unencumbered with the normal trappings of life, (Kid or two, a dog or two).. Even assuming a stay at home partner to raise kids.. that is brutal. I have friends who are making $250k between them, and are not even in the running to purchase property close to work. Just renting a room is brutal..
This is mostly BS.. There is a huge amount of Helium, it just stays mixed with methane when we burn it, and release it to the atmosphere. The US does have some rich sources of He, while these are around helium will be cheap. Afterwards it will be more expensive, but were not looking at running out this century.
It's disrespectful to ignore that choice.
But he shouldn't expect everyone to turn on a dime.
Really, women get married all the time, and generally people don't keep using the maiden name. Just have the same courtesy that a good chunk of american offices have.
Naaahh you buy, there are plenty of nervous traders, that will return back to the table, afraid that they will be left off the massive gains that can happen for apparently no reason. Patience it the key
Theaters really don't matter any more except when it can provide a truly engrossing experience.
Good eye-candy or Amazing Audio are good reasons to see a film in a theater.
Sometimes the movie might have a big twist, which makes it a reasonable choice for a early viewing.
Or sometimes you want to support a franchise you enjoy, Firefly Movie #2 I'm talking about you.
Otherwise I'll stream it when I feel like it.
Pause it when nature calls. Pet the Dogs. Enjoy a beer.
Movies are also simply being out-gunned by Good TV shows. I'm betting that Sunday evenings have been hit hard by GoT this summer.
I think TV is able to take the real risks, and Cinema is feeling squeezed by corporate constraints.
I would lower the bar a bit, I think a polymath should be able to publish first author publications in high impact journals (or equivalent), in at least two fields that do not have a high degree of overlap.
By not all fields publish in journals, So Brian May (Queen Guitarist/Ph.D in Astrophysics) would have an equivalent to high impact journal publications, in the field of Music.
I really don't want a smart key I've been careful and lost one already.
I've been tempted to just wire my key into my car, so regular keys would just work.
That's 15 pages per day of printed material... I think that is pretty reasonable I get a bunch more than that in my mailbox alone. But I'm in the US, so I suspect I should be in the higher end of paper use.
That said, I rarely print.. Though I can burn through a ton of paper getting a publication to look just right on a page.
We should be taking real care in how this thing effects people. Affecting this much change is a damn big deal, and I think that we should be doing this because we need to be comfortable with upgrading our infrastructure. And if we consistently say no to changes, we don't move forward. Sure this will piss people off, but we should have a reasonable ability to reshape the future.
I love watching at my own pace.. I like that the shows have less time restrictions, and can better plan things out rather than worrying about the time crunch for episode 1 to come out, they can take some time and get a good flow for the next 6 episodes where something takes place at the "rib shack",
Law and Order is a nice, but Dickbreath has a point.
I feel betrayed by stories that never get resolved. Or get resolved stupidly... Dammit Dexter.
Now in the age of show bingeing, I'm waiting this shit out on anything that doesn't commandeer my attention.. I waited four seasons before watching my first episode of GOT, Now I'm hooked, and tomorrow premier has me in it's thrall.
But as long as Netflix keeps wait and see bingers in the equation, I think they have some good content, and a good way to fine tune it.
Security is a tradeoff between usability and safety.
You can use Xwindows to work on one remote machine, then cut and paste information to another. You lock the ever living sin out of all three.. the machine in the middle is locked down to doing only segregated X server sessions, and unable to do ANYTHING else. This is a gigantic pain in the ass. But it does put some serious obstacles in the way of malware.
But this is probably too onerous of a process to use.. if someone needed this level of security they would get someone with real experience to make a brutal solution.
So figure out what data needs to come in. Figure out a sanitizing system for your data. Figure out what processing needs to happen. Figure out where that data needs to leave. You need to simplify the process down as much as possible, and then put serious limits on the way things flow through the system.
Have a submit system that is only designed to take in a couple megabytes. Use cgroups to limit your individual daemons to just above that. Is the data only going to be [0-9A-Za-z] then put a filter on your incoming data. Use modules that know about "tainted" variables. Docker isn't too bad IF you go full se-linux hardening (total PITA)
Software upgrades are often don't care about the existing userbase.
Time getting into a grove is actually pretty damn expensive.. \
And losing the grove because someone thinks "showing a bunch of file previews isn't that much of a slowdown, barely fifteen seconds" can really upset users who open that thing a thirty times a day --mostly with muscle memory--.
Because IPv4 addresses are valuable ($10 range currently) Having 16.7 Million of them is a nice chunk of change, letting 65K of them go for free seems to be a breach of fiduciary responsibility by someone.
I've gotten so irritated at the damn next button being replaced with some damn link to crap.
I've just started blacklisting every damn site I get sent to unfairly. But they keep changing the names of the same basic garbage.
I am very excited about sodium batteries.
As sodium is a much more environmentally friendly element to produce at large scale (my conjecture, I didn't look it up).
What were the roadblocks of using sodium in previous batteries?
I suspect whisker growth, but am not familiar with batteries enough to know other possibilities.
With the glass version, what are the big drawbacks to using sodium instead of lithium (if any)?
Yes, CC and banks are dragging their heels. But the whole system is just bad.
First, why does Arby's have Normal CC information?? Once it passes, the deal is done. I get having corporate accounts on file, but this is silly.
Second, the damn machines shouldn't be giving Arbys any information, other than transaction time/amount/ and some transaction code(needed for refunding cash).
Third, The cards should be sophisticated enough to handle a secure chip/pin system (not the sad version of today, but one that is legit)
I only bother with a theater if there is a social reason, or If the movie is eye candy. Doctor Strange is eye candy that wont translate well to the 2D Home Theater.
Otherwise I prefer to sit on the couch, and pet my hounds, answering my phone or the call of nature as I see fit.
Nope, coal is going to keep shrinking. For energy, natural gas is going to keep moving forward taking down coal. It doesn't have the heavy metal issues, and is reasonably cheap. Plus natural gas can be used for "peaker" power stations to supplement solar and wind-power.
Windpower in geographically appropriate areas is a pretty economical choice. I don't see any long term viability problems, the only real issue with windpower is that maintenance is an ongoing expense, but factored into the power produced, it still makes them once of the cheapest options per KWH
There are big advantages to living in a big state, but this is a downside to it.
I think that California (perhaps Texas) should break apart into smaller states if this is a serious concern.
So dial it where you want it, then make California substate #22 Great again!!
Then get something with a bit of girth to it.
If it isn't a tow away zone then somebody screwed up.

whole thing is wonky

Seems that letting them see to corpses might be a bit disturbing

I was wondering when I'd find someone that considered the Indian donor.. The whole thing is a damn mess.

Do you need to visit PC principal ?
