  1. I dunno.. on Vista - iPod Killer? · · Score: 5, Funny

Look, I think Microsoft's products emanate directly from Satan's butthole, just like the rest of you. I also secretly hump the boxes from which my purchased Apple products emerge. However, doesn't it seem like Apple probably had more than enough time to get this working on the beta versions, assuming this isn't some new, last-second bug?

That said, the Zune doesn't even work on Vista yet, as another commenter already pointed out.... Still, I'm inclined to blame Apple on this one.

Don't be such a Google fanboy. All systems have bugs. New ones have even more bugs. Google is not immune.

  4. how about keychain access on the command line? on Confessions of a Mac OS X User · · Score: 1

I've been searching for some time for command line access to the Keychains -- many times I've wanted to ssh into my home system from work to fetch a password I'd stored in my keychain and so far I haven't been able to figure out how to access it. Nothing promising at versiontracker and I don't know any applescript to know if I can use that to my benefit. Any ideas?

  5. Re:Broken USB mouse support fixed? on Linux Kernel 2.4.20 Released · · Score: 1

when I upgraded to 2.4.19 my USB mouse stopped working.. I fiddled with my module loading order in /etc/modules.autoload and got it to work again. try loading them in this order:

    input
    mousedev
    usbmouse
    hid
    uhci

and see if that doesn't help. (you might be using ohci instead of uhci) This is a total shot in the dark for you, of course, but it helped me so maybe it'll help you too.

(I wish I understood why module ordering mattered so much in this case -- it was always my understanding that modules would load other modules they depended on, so the ordering wasn't important. am I wrong?)

It's hard to know to be extra-careful with a box marked "Fragile" if you don't know what the word means. Though I'd like to think that enroute package handlers would be nice to all boxes, "Fragile" or not. And that bunnies can talk to people while they sleep. And Unicorns are real!

  8. semi-useless internet services on Linux Based MP3 Stereo · · Score: 2

This looks like a neat-o gadget and all, but my attention is drawn to this part of the write-up:

online shops where users can purchase concert tickets, music subscriptions, and merchandise; etc.

Come on! Is anyone ever going to use a device like this to purchase music or tickets, or better yet, Brittney Spears' tshirts on the web? Surfing on my wireless phone is horrible enough that I'll never do it, but somehow I'm going to want to purchase things with a Walkman tied to an ethernet network? Blah. Why must all gadgets include this sort of semi-useless Internet Service hoo-hah?

Oh, Juuri, thank you for trying so hard! I can see now you are just trying to protect us from the evil Jon Katz.. all this time, I thought you were just flaming Jon Katz and those who defended him because it made you feel like a big manly linux user, but the truth is that you have merely been acting oh so selflessly. Since someone out there obviously thought this was news, and you don't, it sounded like you wanted it to be News for Juuri: Stuff that Matters (as long as Juuri says so).

Look, I refrained from making personal comments about you because I don't know you. You can call me stupid, and I guess that makes you feel better, but you don't know me. We have a difference of opinion. Amazingly dense? Tell me how reading a post that you must have been well aware would annoy you (I've seen your other anti-Katz posts) and then posting about how much it annoys you makes you such a brilliant fuck??

I'm still confused as to why you're still reading posts if the whole thing is so pointless and doesn't belong here anyway. Fuck off, Juuri.

Give me a fucking break.

What Jon is doing (and doing quite effectively) is pointing out that no matter how much everyone pleads and hopes for linux to become the "OS for everyone" that people are going to have to start helping new linux users out instead of flaming them to death and making them feel stupid because they couldn't figure out your oh-so-manly OS.
