Yeah and when someone steals your entire library, forget about getting help from them in getting it all replaced. In fact, there are a number of titles in my library that got stolen that aren't available new anymore, and some on top of that are rare in the secondhand library... the two Playstation Lunar games, for example
Since Jack Thompson has not mentioned suing any games that end with him being shot and given his aggressive legal posture on this point, one can safely conclude that he has sanctioned whatever videogames end with him being shot. Jack Thompson seriously needs to consider the stupidity of such a thing. Furthermore, he says that there's more than one game that ends with him being shot. Weird.
Yeah, well that's the whole problem. The article makes claims for which people have to make assumptions to determine the validity of it. If there are in fact more inputs, then why aren't they stated? Given the current sorry state of affairs, it's reasonable to assume that they just went with the inputs they provided.
The fissure grows 8 meters wide in 3 weeks following an earthquake on Sept 14, and then increases at a rate of about 0.8 inches per year. Given the first metric is even possible, it's absurd to think that the the second rate will remain constant so projection to millions of years is invalid. It would be just as valid to conclude that the increase is decelerating and eventually close back up.
In Explorer I frequently run into the problem of when selecting multiple files by holding down the shift key and down, and the selection extends past the edge of the screen, the selection not working right.
Explorer doesn't do smooth scrolling, so the end of the filename is always off the side of the window in most views.
The start bar complains that there is not enough room when you make fonts large, even though there is plenty of screen real estate.
Dialogs don't resize properly with large fonts.
If I put more thought and time to it, I could come up with plenty more.
I hate that. There should be a dead space or something to allow unintentionally redirected input from having an effect. More importantly there should be a way for software to get attention without stealing focus.
The way they claim the eye works, there should be no difference between a stereoscope image seen by one eye, a flat image seen by one eye, and anything else seen by one eye.
I don't get the whole "I'm getting old thing" and I don't think it's just because I'm 29, though I suppose it does help that I watch anime shows like Tenchi Muyo! and Crest of the Stars that have people that are chronologically old but physically young. Oh and watching Doctor Who growing up didn't hurt either.
No, you misunderstand. This is a bit of that Matrixy stuff leaking out. The patent wasn't granted by a "real" person, it was inserted into the granted patent list by those in the real "real world". Don't worry, though, those androids will come along and make everything copasetic. The patent will disappear, everything referencing it will disappear, and everyone's memory will be erased except for the few the real "real worlders" decide to get to first.
I wonder if the article uses UK, which is easily misinterpeted as "United Kingdom" to give the missive more credence. I also note that the actual researcher is of oriental heritage.
As an aside, I'm reminded of the joke which is probably rewritten for numerous groups.
A person on the Indiana side of the Ohio river tells a person on the Kentucky side that he will shine a flashlight across the river and he can walk across the beam. The person on the other side says, "No way! You'll shut the flashlight off when I get halfway across!"
The color screen as I remember it is still better in some aspects than what I've seen of the DS.
I did mostly play it with the adapter, which developed a break. I liked the "Psychic World" on it better than the Master System version. Then there was this cloudy maze game where a dragon's egg followed you, and if you got far enough it turned into a dragon. It had cursed swords that you could not unequip.
Would still have it too, except for a situation I'd rather not get into.
They quote the article:
"Too many patents are issued for "innovations" that are obvious, vague or already in wide use."
Ask:
On what authority or statistical basis?
Then proceed with the same lack of authority or statistical basis to conclude:
This ignorant assertion is hoary, with no basis other than anecdotal evidence of patents occasionally being found invalid.
They misrepresent the article by stating:
More to the point, the editorial then complains how many patents apply to products nowadays.
This makes it sound as if the article was saying, "For many products, there is a patent that covers the product," when what the article is actually saying is "For any given product there are numerous patents covered by its components."
The statement makes numerous misstatements similar in nature to the above two.
people who care enough to create an account there and thus are more likely to stick around to reply to question as to why they did what they did. Plus it decreases the need for others to intervene to delete articles created by anonymous users because it was easy and they happened to be bored at the time.
I wouldn't mind as long as all users know what is going to be transmitted and to who before they sign up.
After that, I would value having a fine degree of control over what information gets transmitted to who. This last bit would affect whether or not I personally joined such a network.
I'm glad he mentions font size issues. I'm using Windows XP, and am constantly running into font size issues. Programs ignore my settings or pay attention to part of them, and also dont allocate enough room for the chosen font size. This is rediculous. Visual Studio 2005 is a big offender as well.
Is a frikken shark with 3 frikken laser beams on its head better than a frikken shark with 2 frikken laser beams on its head?
Better yet, a shark with 3 heads each with a laser beam!
Of course anyone in his position is biased, but he doesn't present his case for why he thinks quite well, nor have I seen a tutorial on how to best utilize the moderation system.

The whole "less savvy" thing appears to me to be due to marketing to less savvy people.

Are you implying that Major Motoko Kusanagi and Aeon Flux are not strong, complex, and capable?

i.e. any non-trivial filesystem.
Two things come to mind:
1. In B5 where the emperor washes his hands of G'Kar's blood and sprinkles the bloody water over some flowers.
2. Sweet violets, covered all over with roses, covered all over from head to toe, covered all over with roses.

This is a forum for freedom of expression, not fascist moves.

Yeah... I get that "If you've seen one game you've seen them all," vibe.

Maybe there are people who just want to mess with the system, switch a bunch of tags and let the people coming afterwards deal with the confusion.
