Lets hope this service pack (thats suposedly centered around security) will stop outlook from executng attachments and other basic e-mail security measures in addition to the pop up blocking in IE and other known features.
just because nobody specifically mentioned it doesn't mean the sky's not going to start on fire tomorrow night a 9:23e/8:16c, just as nostrodamus predicted, oh yeah, and divide tomorrows date by the square route of pi times your mothers birthday, i think you'll find something interesting...
I know people (cyclists) who would argue with you on that point. To them, they're not loud for the sake of being loud but so people on four wheels will notice them when they're in their blindspot in the next lane. Direct quote from a biker friend shortly after being run onto the shoulder in the above mentioned situation; "Man, i gotta get a louder bike so these assholes notice me."
iirc detroit hasn't put out a RWD car in years, the new GTO is the first in a long time, and its not even really an american car. Imports come in RWD though, and on that subject drifting is, imho, as insane as motorsports get...
The old viruses that could actually destroy a computer were a whole nother beast entirely. A sibling or nephew post mentioned one that would overclock everything from the bios and disable thermal protection, i think that would have to be tailored to a specific motherboard however. How about the ones that would change your display refresh rate to a non supported speed and actually fry your CRT. Not that hardware destruction is a good thing, but maybe it'll get peoples attention and make them patch their systems instead of this merely annoying pussy mass mailer crap we have nowadays that people just tend to ignore.
Just where is the nearest brick and mortar Rackspace Managed Hosting location to you? It's not BestBuy.com were talking about. Also, its not illegal, anyone can track what you do on their site, its called a server log, and i think a hosting company would know a thing or two about those.
Wow, hi-five for your excellent work. I have the studio 20 model and rockbox has made it work amazingly, i even get better battery life. Only issue i've had is anything past v1.4 actually playing a song without the unit freezing. I dont mind though, i load v2.x to make playlists when i rip new cds then go back to 1.4 so its not a big deal. Again, myself, and i'm sure archos owners everywhere, thank you.
Is it possible to rent penguins? I know their droppings are like any other birds, pretty nasty, kind of a pain to clean up and stink like hell in large quantities. Would it be possible to rent a flock of penguins and cage them in the sco parking lot for a work day? Everyone would have to walk through it and the penguins would probably hop up onto cars etc... Or just get a few pissed off male emporer penguins and leave them in Darl's office....
Those sort of remotes seem to be doing better now, with crazy home theatre setups people have now a days standard universal remotes dont cover it. I have a 'standard' universal remote, and it cant turn on the reciever or set the clock on the vcr, or program or delete a channel from the tv. As usual Jobs was before his time. I remember looking around christmas time, basically you can get a truly universal remote for about $100, the top is a touchscreen lcd (only grayscale iirc) and you can download and load in complete programing for a specific remote, or teach it, not just a few buttons, but every button on an existing remote. I'm still considering getting one, probably when i get my new reciever. Might be a better idea (and cheaper) to just get a palm pilot, but i assume the remote has better battery life.

Hack This, Please
·
· Score: 2, Interesting
The cue cat just sucked and no one ever actually used it besides hackers (glances at modded one sitting next to case) i don't really know much about the iOpener, but that can probably be blamed on a combination of the hackers and a flawed business model. Really, who would buy an internet terminal. If you give a mouse a cookie and all that. People may think they just want the www, but then they'll want to download music, and then burn cds etc etc, which requires a real computer, which at $400 vs $99 is what really killed the iOpener. Similar situation with the X-Box, but people are actually buying those and not hacking them, still dont know if MS is making up the loss in game sales though.
Miscrosoft may as well buy TW and have their massive content delivery system, which is one of the reasons MSN isn't doing well. After this can a merger with the Disney/McDonalds/Coca-Cola empire be close behind? McDonalds McWi-Fi or whatever is already "powered by centrino" whatever the hell that means, so they're already in bed with Wintel. This looks like the start of the sci-fi predicted super-corps that eventually replace the government. Blue Sun anyone? Where do i signup for the libertarian party...
Its been a mixed bag with sci-fi pictures doing books, I thought Dune was great and have both the DVDs, and Riverworld was good, but i felt they didn't do justice to the books with that Deathlands movie. I'd rather see them do a crappy Outlanders movie than Deathlands, but a good movie of either would be great. Also, who know how many of those saturday night "Attack of the Giant *BLANK*" movies are based on books...
Is there a company i can get a 17" widescreen lcd, (DVI in, no TV tuner, preferably no speakers...) from that everyones ok with? (not as sarcastic as it sounds...)
I was gonna buy a Samsung monitor, DVD drive and floppy drive. Now i'll be getting a Phillips, Lite-On and oem brand. Let them know with your wallets people.
Not the puck, the cleaner, thick blue liquid, comes in a bottle with a weird neck. Its not quite mint, but whatever it is it smells really good. Anybody know what that exact scent is?
Yeah, the anti-bacterial craze kind of worries me. If it kills 99% of bacteria, what about that 1% thats disinfectant resistant? Were always told about using antibiotics properly, what about everything else. Also, whats with products claiming to eliminate cold germs. Can you 'kill' a virus any better than exposure would? I think people would be a bit healthier, or at least hardier if our socioty weren't so sterilized, like e-coli, people should not die from that, but they do because their food is always so spotless they have absolutly no imunity to it. Not saying you should feed your kids raw meat, but we get minor sicknesses to teach our body to fight what could be a really nasty one. Also, last point, "antibacterial" soap kills no more germs with a proper hand washing than regular non-antibacterial soap. Wow, that got all rambling...
As long as you power it down AFAP (yank from wall if necessary) water is not that damamging to electronics. If not cleaned up it can delaminate PCBs and destroy caps, but if left off and dried well it'll work fine. Other things, esp sticky thinks (soda, get your minds outa the gutter...) can be cleaned up by rinsing with water and then drying. Not a fix 100% of the time, but usually works out pretty well.
Thats my one gripe with LCDs, a not well covered sneeze and you cant just wipe it down with windex like you can a nice glass CRT, a thin piece of anti-glare coated glass would be nice for LCDs, easier to clean and protective from "ooo, look at the pretty swirls when i poke it".
Hmm, i shake out my keyboard every once and a while, which is pretty gross, and vaccum out the dust bunnies from my case, but the only time i ever even wipe off the toilet seat is when its down and my aim is off, even then, urine is sanitary, toilet bowl gets cleaned with the really nice smelling (wtf is that, anybody know, mint?) blue stuff every two weeks or so...
I've got this, a cable modem, and a router next to me. Sounds like what your looking for, although if my desk takes a hit they'll all explode in my face...

iirc HD did, or at least tried, to trademark that sound

yeah, i couldn't remember the exact strain (2xx something?) that brings about news reports and i didn't feel like looking it up.

Not actual fecal matter, but fecal coliform bacteria, which are everywhere...
