BUT...use CPAN. Makes it a million times easier. You might still have to install a dozen Perl modules, but at least each install is automated.
Back in March I set up a new mailserver for the ISP I work for. Postfix/Courier-IMAP/SquirrelMail/Maildrop/SpamAss assin/ClamAV... the works. SpamAssassin was the EASIEST thing to install.
People watch it that way because they're idiots, basically. I actually had this discussion with a guy I know who bought a Gateway LCD TV (which is truly a piece of shit, by the way).
Me: "You know, you can set it so that the picture isn't stretched out like that."
Him: "Yeah, but then I get those black bars, and I didn't pay all that money to not use all the screen."
Me: "But it looks pretty awful"
Him: "Oh, I've gotten used to it."
So this guy spent a couple thousand bucks to have a TV with a picture that looks worse than my $200 Philips (and much worse than his former TV, a nice 32" Toshiba). And he was apparently happy with it.
You know what they say about a fool and his money...
Have you noticed that most of the stories about the presidential campaign are about exactly that? The CAMPAIGN.
Almost EVERY mass-media story on the election isn't about anything except the ELECTION PROCESS. Dicussion of actual political issues, and the candidates views on said issues, are rarely attempted.
Seriously, for a person who can READ, standard recipes are easier to follow. Much, much easier. It's not like recipes are so complicated that you need to use fucking flow-charts.
If you have a collection of songs worth over $1000 that you didn't pay for, you've broken the law.
Look, I download songs, I have no moral problem with it. But it's illegal. Not likely to get you in trouble (like SHARRING said songs), but illegal nonetheless.
Actually, dipshit, downloading copyrighted material that you don't have a license for *IS* illegal.
You can't download stuff you don't already "own". Whether you share it or not has nothing to do with the legality, though distributing copyrighted materials tends to get you in more trouble.
I live in Iowa, my grandfather and uncle are farmers, and they're both liberals in every sense of the word, but they vote Republican.
Why? Farm subsidies. The Republicans are VERY big on keeping farmers and their farms in business(to get their votes, of course), and keeping the ridiculous pork-barrel subsidies going for as long as possible. Farmers are a HUGE constituency for the Republicans. Many, MANY farmers rely on those subsidies.
Well, the bitch is that the GOOD fonts aren't free. So those nice versions of Arial and Times New Roman and Courier and all the standards that your'e used to in Windows and MacOS? Not free to distribute. Not at all.
Haven't you ever noticed that the only free fonts you can get are generally "novelty" fonts? Everything that looks good for everyday use is copyrighted to hell and back.
So don't expect good fonts to come with Linux any time soon.
Hollywood fears that the Christian conservatives that wield so much power in the Republican party will censor the hell out of their "products"- state-approved news and movies and books and all that.
You know, these mergers are actually a good thing. If all the media companies keep merging, eventually they'll be one big monolithic company that everyone can actively hate, like Microsoft.
It's hard to fight a battle on many fronts, but if there's ONE company to hate, it's easy to rile up the masses.
Haven't these schools ever heard of Packeteer? Or Allot?
There's no reason they can't just BLOCK all the P2P apps, and be done with it. Hell, it'd even be cheap, and have the added benefit of freeing up GOBS of their bandwidth.
I just don't get it. Is there some "right to P2P" access that I'm unaware of?
See, I've got this old Chevy Nova. It runs fine and everything, but it's out of gas. Does anyone know of a way I could hook it up to my wood-burning stove?
This way I would save on gas money. Have you seen how much gas is?

I don't disagree.

Awesome!
Oh, wait. The Grateful Dead suck. REALLY fucking suck. And by extension, so do you.

It's like some half-ass GUI for recipes.
Give me the command-line any day!

See the "No Electronic Theft Act".

Of course, ATI can't write an OpenGL ICD to save their lives. Actually, their drivers are buggy in general.
I'll admit that ATI seems to have better technology. But drivers are everything. EVERYTHING. And Nvidia wins that battle, hands down.
You know, dumbass, you don't have to sell your PS2 when the PS3 comes out.
You can keep it to play your old games.
Why does everyone use the same stupid "I don't want to throw out my old games" argument?
Well, Apple had to figure out SOME way to justify putting a 3D accelerator in a Mac.
;)
I mean, it sure isn't for games.

Just because they haven't been censored yet, doesn't mean they wouldn't be in the future.
I think it's a pretty valid fear, myself. The Christian Right would love to get control over Hollywood, and the media in general.
That's easy...
Hollywood fears that the Christian conservatives that wield so much power in the Republican party will censor the hell out of their "products"- state-approved news and movies and books and all that.
So, they have to vote Democrat.

Get a decent 3 CCD camera. That's it. Spend ALL of the rest of your budget on lighting. Maybe even hire somebody to do it for you.
Good lighting is EVERYTHING when it comes to video and film. Everything. If you aren't lighting your scenes properly, they will look light shit.
The quality of your camera comes a distant second to the quality of your lighting scheme/equipment.

Maybe you know this-
U.S. Robotics was the name of the company that made the robots in the "I, Robot" book.
The REAL company named U.S. Robotics named itself after the fictional one.
If you like CrazyBrowser, you really should be using Maxthon (formerly MyIE2):

I'm all for anything that keeps all those loser LOTR fans locked up in a dark room for hours on end.
I agree, but it's likely that we'll see consumer AV gear WITHOUT analog outputs in the fairly near future.
The companies that make that stuff just can't WAIT to lock you out with DRM-protected IO ports. They talk about it all the time.
I bet all the protologists in the ENTIRE WORLD can't wait to be replaced by robots.
