Love it... switching from the iPhone was like getting out of prison. I can actually do stuff with my phone now - you know - stuff I WANT to do with it, and not just what Apple tells me I can do with it.
I can't believe this got posted to the front page. I really can't. If you look at the Slashdot Guide to Trolling, it has many of the elements - intentionally false information, baseless claims, and states things the linked article says nothing about.
First, Harry Reid is a democrat, not republican, and the letter does not refer to Anonymous or any other organization. It talks only about inside threats such as the Bradley Manning case.
Jumpin' Jesus on a Pogo Stick, don't the editors even do a tiny bit of summary fact checking before posting this drivel?
How about you exercise some self-discipline and stop letting the Internet be a bad influence on your life?\
The Internet is necessary in today's world. Saying you're going to quit the Internet is like a fat person saying they're just going to quit eating. It can't be done.
That makes way too much sense for the enviro-weenie movement, just like how hybrids and electrics fail miserably at a cost/benefit analysis against an equivalent vehicle with a standard powertrain.
Shoot a video of a skinny blonde in a slutty outfit doing doing slutty things while mouthing the words to the song... for bonus cash, surround her with other skinny blondes in slutty outfits doing slutty things, with the implication that two or more of said skinny blondes in slutty outfits might engage in physical relations with each other.
It won't matter one bit what the song is about, or if it's any good. It'll sell MILLIONS of copies.
I didn't say I doubted it was true. I guess I should have said "it is hard to accept" to be more clear. It's just one of those things I thought I would never see.
Bob has certainly left his mark on the analog world. I've attended a few of his seminars, and meeting him in person cannot leave one with any other impression than to know he was simply brilliant, and brilliantly simple. He saw things in ways none of us was ever taught to look at them.
Both of our local ISPs recently implemented a bandwidth cap (75GB/mo for one and 50GB/mo for the other). Of course, they both offer TV and on-demand video, and one even admitted that they enacted the cap to shove Netflix and Amazon.com streaming out of their competitive space, and to reduce p2p file sharing (which they actively try to block anyway).
He seems to think the Executive Branch gets to decide when it is and is not in compliance with the Law, and that the Exec is responsible for interpreting Laws... and making them for that matter.
A prime example of his autocratic approach is that he has dozens of Tsars exercising unilateral, unaccountable control over everything.
Now, he thinks he can just invent facts, such as "dropping bombs from drones isn't hostile, and therefore I am in compliance with the Law."
When I was younger, I thought that Jimmy Carter was the worst president ever. I feel good for JC that he's going to get to go meet his maker knowing that is definitely not the case.
The manager's decision on how to approach the achievement of company objectives is IT's responsibility to follow. If they think it is 'stupid' or 'retarded,' it is not their job to say "no." They can disagree and explain in a well-documented, well-supported way why something should or should not be done, which would allow the manager to possibly change their decision. Or, the manager can say "too bad" and IT can follow orders like they are supposed to.
IT geeks do not run the company. They are there to provide service to the company, and to do as they are told.

Probably because Ford owns patents that cover much of the technology and will sue anyone else who tries to do it into oblivion.
Like making sure old people get their free money, and people who refuse to work get their government cheese.

The sad thing is that many will NOT see this as the completely transparent and idiotic publicity stunt that it is.
They probably read the headline here and went "Oh Snap! pwned!"
I've found that the Android interface is quite well-polished compared to the web interface.

It is still in testing, and is invite-only. That is not what it means to be "launched."
It is not as if SCOTUS decisions are a suggestion. They are binding case law.
Unused CPU capacity is not free to utilize. A CPU under load consumes much more power, so who is going to pay for that?
I didn't say I doubted it was true. I guess I should have said "it is hard to accept" to be more clear. It's just one of those things I thought I would never see.
It is absolutely true. Here is the story:

Still better than this pile of dogshit story.
Tesla got something like $400M in bailout funds.
That's just over 9 Miles/MJ.
To put it in perspective, I burn about 40 calories to travel 1 mile on my bicycle, so that's about 6 Miles/MJ.
It's hard to believe a dino-powered vehicle is more efficient.

He will be missed.
I don't know who I want to lose more.
DOJ's anti-trust oversight of Microsoft expired.

It's much simpler than you are making it out to be. It is just one rule that governs the discussions you're talking about:
"Whatever America is doing is bad."
This bill is about online poker, not gambling.
Gambling is when you play games of chance. Poker is a game of skill.

Why do we need YET ANOTHER big government agency to regulate something that has been completely self-regulated, and successfully so, up until now?
Oh that's right. The big government wants its rake, too.
