I've used all the versions of Winders over the years, and Vista isn't any worse than any of them. Anyone who says Vista is horrible ought to go back to Windows 98 and compare. That OS didn't even separate processes from each other properly, despite being released 1.3 decaded after the hardware could support that simple thing. Vista works just fine, and if you use GCC to develop software on it, it has the potential to be almost as nice a development platform as Linux.
Where did I make any claim of absolute truth? If someone gets on the TV and says that the Tigers won the World Series in 2008, the sports guy has a responsibility to say "WTF, they did not."

Putting one guy up who is telling the truth against another guy who is telling nothing but lies is not fair and balanced reporting. Reporters have a duty to dig down and find the truth, and tell us what they found. Just putting random voices out there and letting the viewer decide isn't balance at all.

The PC's were junk, but if you wanted to get some information on what a BIOS call did, it didn't cost you $300 bucks for the developer's kit (which I didn't have before I made my money).
If it's 1985, gimme a PC and a copy of Turbo Pascal.
