As long as people dual boot, there will be no need to develop for Linux.
I'll continue to dual boot until I can live without a windoze box for good. It's very close at the moment, if you don't realise. The only thing windows is really good for is games. See above comments about this.

I conceed your point about souls:( If you have an alternative, please speak up
You are referring to recent articles where M$ seems to be pushing games from the PC to a console so the PC can be the entertainment (har har) center of the house?
Well, fashions come and go every decade.. is it time for the games to move back to the console.. (only to have them come back to the PC in 5 years time?)
Hey! Welcome to the real world where quite a lot of Linux/BSD users have either two boxes or dual boot.
I have, for your information, two boxes: A 633 with Mandrake and FreeBSD on it, which does just about everything; and a 1.8G Intel box that runs windoze and basically runs games and needs to be reinstalled every 6 months (minimun).
This card I would throw in the Doze box, of course, for games, of course - Why bring linux into this? Anyway, in a while the linux drivers will be out:)
Wow. A new video card jam packed with electronic goodies humming with performance power.
Does anyone remember the days of good clean code and high performance? All this card does, AFAICS, is give developers more excuse to waste CPU, RAM and bandwidth. Bah. 'oh look! they have all this RAM and CPU power now: lets bloat!'
Yes, it's a nice card and thanks for the pointer toward the review. I just disagree with our current "we have the resources to waste!" attitude to coding. I can't wait for the 10G CPU, 2Gig ram and 1 Gig video card that's going to be required to run games on windows 2010.
Since we're discussing filtering and dropping packets into the ether.. whatever happened to Blackhole (ing) software?
The last I heard (years ago) was that a company was actively using it, and being sued by other companies for blocking their mail.
Anyone?
Windows took over The Desktop because:
a) It was simple to install
b) It was all there was (money/OS choice)
and
c) Everyone was using it.
Can you think of a better way to mould a linux distro into these features? Easy! Give a distro to an entire country and learn as you go. After a while you get:
a) Less installation problems (install something on 1/2 million machines and you find the bugs)
b) Countries like this can't afford M$ licence prices (then again, who can?)
and
c) A definition of 'popular' is Suited to or within the means of ordinary people: popular prices. (Dictionary.com)
No reason to put people down for attempting to make the best out of a situation.

My most sincere apologies. They recently cut SG here, halfway through the season.. I went on the net to find out why and found DanielJackson.com.
I will, in future, be mindful to this. Please forgive my error (still a newbie here).
Does anyone else feel like Daniel Jackson has left all over again?
