  1. Cable companies lies and propoganda.... on Cable Industry Taking Control of the Net · · Score: 1

Here in canada, my isp is shaw cable and they ballyhoo'd all about how when they took over the cable and ISP services of rogers cable (they actually swapped services at both ends of canada), they said that they would give better faster service with no limits and now they have limited the amount you can download per month, introduced a two-tier pricing structure..it's basically them or the telephone co's high speed asdl, (same limits essentially). All this microsoftian behavior is getting out of hand especially, since moor's law says hardware will get cheaper exponentially and fiber optics laser bandwiths will grow exponentially (using existing cables). basically, it's stupid to get ripped off by this corporate artificially limited access to high-tech services. What's it going to cost to use the internet in the future, as much as running your car and still have a stunned service quality??????

  2. With Technology getting cheaper all the time? on Calling Cell Phones Could Cost More · · Score: 1

Why do these services have to get constatlly more expensive (ie:cellphone and conventional ISP access) when technology is obeying moors law etc, when in 20 years, most sysems will fit into a matchbox, cost $2 and run off a D cell battery and have 2million Gbyts of permanent storage AND these people have the nerve to constantlly increase costs forever!!! This includes that rediculouse OS made in redmond too!!!!

  3. I agree, must support seti@home on SETI@Home Faces Funding Problems · · Score: 1

The amount of funding for advanced weapons during the last century should give us pause to consider the truly paultry amount of funding for basic scince like seti research. It's pathetic that basic science like seti@home has to starve and yet the latest proposal for a science/technology that goes boom etc, gets all the money. It's no wonder that loony dictators like saddam like to emulate the bigger superpowers and develop wepons, it's monkey-see, monkey-do....

  4. We need nanotech to rectify everything!!!! on Blue LED Inventor Loses Patent Fight · · Score: 1

I agree, the whole world is severely slanted towards those who peddle (sell, rep, own, things like money, etc) and the business types. The scientist/inventor/developer currentlly gets really worked over, it's not like the blue led made some money, it made a lot of money, share it!!. Things may improve when nanotech evens the playing field (everything freely replicated from downloads on the internet..) and the world systems change so that people with ideas can be as sucessfull as thoes who have lots on money..of coures, with nano, probabbly won't need money or those stupid pollitical games, ladder climbing etc..

  5. hey, a lone gunmen/entrprise crossover!!!! on Enterprise Season Premiere Tonight · · Score: 1

yeah, the could have mulder and the lone gunmen beamed to the future in a future eppisode of the time wars, they help stop the war and get beamed back before the died!!!!!!

  6. real actors make for better movies on Will CGI Collapse the Hollywood Economy? · · Score: 1

My opinion is that computer graphics is cool and can be a valid as part of a story, to do some effect that would be impossible or too expensive, could work, but has to be applied sparinglly, not just for an excuse to do something. However, I think that even for low-budget productions, real actors make for a better movie. For example, my pick for the best recent low-buget horror movie "Dog Soldiers" ( http://www.dogsoldiers.co.uk ) where soldiers are fighting a pack of werewolves, where there is no CGI, just actors and actors in werewolf costumes, then the mayhem begins... You can't get the same thing with actors and blue screens, the synergy of interaction between the characters is not there, as with CGI, the actors don't see who they are interacting with.

  7. Re: Imax the Horror Movie "Dog Soldiers" on IMAX Develops Movie Transfer Technology · · Score: 1

My vote for a cool movie to Imax would be that British (American Produced) Horror Movie "Dog Soldiers" which has to be the ultimate Werewolf Movie...better than the Howling movies and even "american werewolf in London". Too bad it's only been shown on Scifi channel and has yet to show in theaters here in North America. Go see its web site www.dogsoldiersmovie.com or www.dogsoldiers.co.uk

  8. Technology up, costs down (natural law) on Will Cable Unplug the File Swappers? · · Score: 1

The cable companies should be charging less, for example, as more people sign on, the connections slows, we as subscribers have to deal with this, amd now they want to put an arbitrairy limits AND have the nerve to give us massive price increases at the same time!!!! It is obviouse that the regulating bodies of government are cow-towing to the cable interests and allowing this joke to continue. we are at the beginning of the 21st century and are witnessing the relentless exponential growth of technology will lower costs to the point that fiber to the home will become cheap (this is only a decade away, a flash in the pan on civillization time scales). What would Picard say if: "I'm sorry captain, we have exeeeded our allotted 5Gbyte cap for this month"?

  9. We need nanotech developed to clean the world.. on China Bans U.S. Electronic Scrap · · Score: 1

It's about time that the industrialized countries of the world developed nanotech to clean up all the toxic wastes of the current industrialized world. In doing so, we will also have developed neat nanotech solutions to our current hi-tech needs and also which will probably be a magantude better and not so damaging.

  10. yes, the should bring them back.. on The Lone Gunmen Are Dead · · Score: 1

The lone gunmen were the best part of the x-files and Fox in all their wisdom should not have cancelled the show. This x-files story line is stupid, brign back the lone gunmen and ALSO bring back futurama, just because the Fox network has made money in the past, if they kill of their good shows like futurama and the lone gunmen, then their ratings could drop and people will just go to who ever produces the shows they like (such as futurama etc.). Perhaps another network could pick up these shows, why would you throw away a dedicated fan following, it's obvious the theory that some people can accidentally make money but are obblivious to why and how something they did made money (wake up overpaid executives at Fox.. the clock is ticking, try to get your audience more alienated..thenyou can watch your money dissapear..good huh?. you just got an A+ for stupidity).
