*If* you wear moisturizer, *you* are a girly man. ;-) I live in colorado and have acclimated. I never touch the stuff. You're point about static is a good one, but I think what it boils down to is personal preference. Some people like humidity, others don't. I love the Colorado climate, but I grew up in the south where it's all humidity, all the time. Not my cuppa. Cheers. -Matt

  8. Freshmeat Approach on Ideas for a Recording Industry Alternative? · · Score: 1

Seems to me that you could just take the approach Freshmeat does for hosting software projects in creating a site that hosts bands. Anyone who wants to post their music on the site, would have to stream it themselves from their own servers. The site would just link to them then.

Then, the way you weed out the bad from the good is by providing a killer rating system. People who come to the site looking for new/hot bands, would be confronted with the highest rated ones first.

I sent this in to /.. The only news I thought made sense to announce was that MIT has actually set a date now. September 30th. The "big deal" I suppose is that MIT is a very prestigous school. I, unfortunately, never had the privilege of going to such a world-reknown school and am excited to see what kind of things they teach. The caliber of teachers I had in college left a lot to be desired. Seems that the teachers and, therefore, curriculum is probably superior at MIT than a lot of schools. This may be subjective, but the prospect was exciting to me and is probably so to others. Regards. -Matt
