    I guess I can't be trusted, but it seems a good programmer is defined by skill and the ability to always be learning new things, started with FORTRAN on main frame, now I do J2EE web apps, just gotta keep moving and always stay one step ahead.

    I wouldn't recomend ANYONE giving a dime to IGS, they'll charge a lot and deliver little, I've had to unF%*k IGS code on a number of occasion, it was really crap, IGS epitomizes all that has gone wrong in the ASP industry. MM

    While it is true that everyone who got hit with SQL slammer is a victim of their own actions because they purchased M$ products in the first, place and they didn't patch it. Seems their have been enough previous M$ security problems that everyone should no better. However the quality if commercial software pretty much sucks, and I think for the good of the industry and those who work in it if their was some impetus to improve quality. Maybe if companies were more concerned about quality then the race to bottom to hire H1-B's, off-shore work, and generally not give a crap about quality would stop. Unfortunately software companies will not be concerned to improve the quality of their products unless their is finacial incentive to do so, so maybe it is about time the users started holding software providers responsible for their products. No other industry has such a lack of standards, and such disregard for quality. Maybe the lawsuit is BS, but hopefully it is a starting point for a greater concern for QA throughout the industry.

    Seems like this capability has already existed with java object serialization, this is usually much more compressed than xml and does not require the significant overhead XML has for parsing.

    Not quite, you have reference objects, a concurrent garbage collection in the latest VM, but I understand it easiert to slander Java tehn to learn the details of it. MM

    Even if it isn't 100% J2EE compliant, it still works as bean container, and is in general easier to use and way less expensive than the commercial alternatives, there are some of us who like to use java based web platforms, but don't have six figures to spend on it. And if it isn't J2EE compliant, this isn't such a big issue if the points of non-compliance are openly known. Viva the OSS MM

    Considering it still cost $2000/kilo to get into LEO, I'm a bit unsure how this will be profitable in the near future. Many existent high grade terrestial deposits are not economically recoverable. MM
