Because the people who fund the Republican campaigns have enough money that they don't need social security, medicare, etc. And then they've somehow convinced the rest of the Republican voters that because they don't need medicaid or unemployment or health insurance RIGHT NOW, that it is against their interests to fund these programs just in case they do need them. And downplay the anti-social security/medicare parts so their senior-citizen base don't realize that they're trying to destroy these programs. If they talked about eliminating social security and medicare entirely, they'd lose the senior vote, so instead they talk about "reforming" it, when by reforming it they mean removing all its value.
The Republicans have signed a pledge that they will never vote to raise taxes on anybody for any reason whatsoever. If they violate that pledge, the head of the organization who created it can and will ensure they lose their seat by cutting off their campaign funding.
In other words, they have been blatantly bribed. They have signed a pledge admitting that they have been bribed.
'They weren't going to do anything without raising taxes.'
Well yes, they were realistic in thinking they couldn't do what was asked without raising taxes. And most Americans acknowledge that raising taxes is necessary and wanted you to come to a deal that was a combination of raising taxes and cutting spending. You, Mr. Kyl, and your Republican friends were the ones making unreasonable demands.
There's a difference between heading the soccer ball, and getting hit in the face with it (or somewhere else unexpectedly). I doubt the seriousness of the risk of concussion from soccer balls at schoolyard, though.
The comment subject say "Public Education at it's Best". its is the correct word. Of course nobody reads the comment subjects, that's why you missed it.
My first thought was no baseballs, just softballs. That might be somewhat reasonable, a baseball can be thrown faster than a softball and people do get real injuries from them. I never expected anything this stupid.
This wasn't brought on by a series of injuries, but a series on "incidents". People were getting hit or almost hit. Oh No! One of those people hit got a concussion! Yes, concussions can be serious, but if you let your kids get any kinds of exercise at all they run the risk of a concussion. I got a concussion falling off a jungle gym. No balls involved at all.
One concussion and some bruises or abrasions is no reason to ban a fun form of exercise. No one ever suggested I stop climbing on things after I hurt myself. (I know that since I've left school, people have made that demand of today's kids, but that's just as unreasonable.
Once they have paid for all the scanners, just think of how much the NEXT lucky contractor will make when we have to replace all the dangerous ineffective scanners with the new big thing that is just as untested as the last one was.
B&N didn't break an NDA. They signed an NDA covering a single meeting, where the specifics on the patents weren't given. Microsoft then apparently forgot they hadn't signed the same NDA as everyone else and sent them information on the patents.
I can have a pet store specializing in owls and register hooters.biz, even though Hooters the sports-bar owns hooters.com. If I have a porn site and I name it after a common nickname for female breasts and trademark it legally in the US, why shouldn't I be able to register hooters.xxx?
ICANN needs to approve my "hatesamerica" TLD for terrorist. Then everyone will have to buy up UniversityOfMissouri.hatesamerica and MittRomney.hatesmerica
Right now there are a number of different filter companies, and they provide some customization so the end user (or the person responsible for the local network) is the one who decides "what is porn". If you build the rules into the registrar, then there's one decision for everyone on what is appropriate for children. And what is appropriate for children is a much more variable answer than what is porn.
You just need to remember that Trademarks are there to protect YOU. They're intended to keep Joe's Computers from slapping some bottom-of-the line computer components together, painting in white and selling it to you as an Apple MacBook.
slashdot.org is the tech commentary site. slashdot.net is the social network for serial killers who specialize in victims named Dot. slashdot.xxx is for ascii-art porn.

Increasing your incomes lowers your debt because you can afford to pay off more each month.
Do you have a credit card? Do you know how they work?

The Republicans are insisting on tax Cuts. That's what making the Bush tax cuts permanent is, a tax cut.
The Democrats were willing to raise taxes and cut spending. The Republicans insisted that raising taxes was off the table.

That's probably the ultimate plan. It probably gets around those pesky rules against biological and chemical weapons.

I think you'll find Officer Bear has something a bit worse than pepper spray for you.
We (The USA) tell other sovereign nations what to do all the time.

That's part of the ploy. You call your offense a defense to further confuse your opponent.

So what office are you running for?
That language does seem to imply that a song ripped from a CD is not legally aquired...

You do realize that more than one company can trademark the same word, don't you?
