It really is mind boggling, isn't it? I mean think about...there's barely a minute during the day where you are NOT being taxed. You wake up in the morning to the sound of an alarm clock? Electricity tax. Take a shower in the morning? Natural gas tax. Drive to work? Gasoline tax. Actually working? Federal, social security. Medicare and perhaps state income tax. Do a little grocery shopping on the way home? Sales tax. Make a few cell phone calls on your way home in the car? Phone tax. Etcetera, etcetera. What a shitbag system and top of that the legislators implementing these taxes are not only overpaid civil servants but they get to vote themselves a raise every now and again. Crap, shooting myself in the face seems rather tame by comparison.

Yeah, right. And GWB is the only American president in history to go to war based on supposed American ideologies; religious or not. Grow up. Backing the 'right' horse in a presidential eletion essentially boils down to voting for the candidate you despise least. They are, after all, poloticians. Besides, I think just by BEING a polotician automatically gets you a ticket to hell.

  9. Re:Wait a sec ... on California Considers Tracking Your Car · · Score: 1

I always thought that was odd. I don't know about California but here in Wisconsin companies are issued 'points' or 'chits' (something to that effect), which tells them how much of a given pollutant they're allowed to pump into the environment. If you go over that set amount, BAMMM, you get nailed by the EPA. Now here's the funny part...if these points go unused the company is allowed to sell the unused portions to other companies. Nice incentive, heh?

I agree with most of your post with exception to the military personnel statement. Yes, certain individuals or families get more than singles at the same rank, however, to maintain the military at its current state such benefits are given as incentives for personnel to stay...even with families with children who have disabilities. It's those kind of actions that prevent a draft, which was so highly (and wrongfully) communicated in the last election. As ex-military, I'd rather have a well secured military person re-enlist than lose the probably thousands who were not granted the privelage to be stationed near a hospital or better paying job because they thought their life would be better 'on the outside'. Kudo to them. Besides, as a man of experience, I can tell you that 9 times out of 10 the singles are more happy in their positions and generally move up the chain of command quicker, as well, with less obligations to hold them back from active duty....which is where the promotions are.

  13. Re:Extended Warranties on Best Buy: 20% Of Customers Are Wrong · · Score: 1

Just to clear up that misconception: IF you do purchase the extended warranty, your name and the product you purchased is in their database. Even if you do lose your receipt, they have it on file and as long as you can provide the model and serial number of the product you purchased they will provide the extended support (outside of the manufacturer's warranty). They always have for me, anyway. The fact that I had to use it twice (which they honored and came to my home to replace hardware units) makes it less likely that I'll buy from them again anyway; but it was nice to have when I needed it.

How in the hell is this rabble "insightful"? If you look at the "red vs blue" on any electoral map you'd quickly see that these are places that any SANE person would try to get away from; at least 80% of the country anyway based on the same map. The only people looking for opportunity in the blue states are looking for the opportunity to gain state welfare; which the dems are happy to provide with your tax dollars. You're right on one thing though; TRULY ambitious people don't need a blue state over a red and if they do, they're just plain cowards.
