He's not required to tolerate em, but he is required to stop calling them degenerates, and casting aspersions on their characters, considering that the exact same thing happened to him (most people don't set out to become addicts, and it often isn't a failing of willpower, or some moral fault).. and all of a sudden it's a sob story.

One could extrapolate the results from places that have legalized, and society hasn't collapsed, or pretty much any place where they don't have the highest per capita prison population (with many inmates in for nonviolent drug offences), with associated after prison stigmata. As things are going at the moment, drug trafficking is often done by the most violent, least moral elements, as they are the ones willing to take the risks (including dealing with rival killer gangs), take the money out of that market, treat addicts like people with medical issues, stop destroying families, and reign in the police.. seems like a net gain, despite a possible increase in "addicts", a hypothesis unsupported by any place with legal drugs (discounting people who left repressive countries to head to countries where it's legal.. I mean new addicts).

How about taking a step outside your little world where everyone acts rationally, and warnings of imminent danger or death are things to be pondered and decided upon with logic.

Humans are not vulcans, a good part of the way we deal with the world is guided by instinct, and when all your senses are telling you that there is something to fear, the instinctual part of the brain takes over. This is especially obvious in situations where information about danger is transferred by other humans, an "incoming tiger" shout has probably saved many a life, and evolution has selected for that.

Human nature doesn't work like that, and while I agree that things like the 4th and privacy are important, those are situations in which we have time to engage our logical brain, panic situations do not, and you're doing a great disservice to your credibility by insisting that these situations are in any way comparable.

What a load, there is no such link, there is just a correlation between cannabis use and psychotic episodes, there is not one study which has provided anything close to proof of cannabis actually causing the underlying problem (Ie; no cannabis = no psychotic symptoms). The only thing they've demonstrated is that cannabis can cause an earlier onset in people already predisposed to psychotic episodes.

Have you noticed they've continued to move the goal posts on these studies, when I was a kid, cannabis could cause impotence, a joint was as bad as 10 cigarettes, it caused brain damage, and had no medical value at all.

Those two drugs are nowhere near as bad as alcohol, and I say that as a drinker, alcohol has permanent health effects, actually does kill brain cells, causes violence and poor impulse control, can cause birth defects, and kills millions a year worldwide. Your arguments are weak, and your mom dresses you funny.
