As a Government acquisition professional, I would like to point out that buy American does not apply to commercially available products. It is recognized that market forces will generally provide fair pricing.
This ruling applies to custom development (hardware/software) only. So DHS can buy all the cell phones they want from Taiwan. If they want buy something that does not exist in the commercial market, then "Buy American" applies.
Well, I certainly didn't mean to offend you, but from my perspective (non-game industry), I'm interested in the final product. I don't consider how it got there. Call me narrow, but that is what American is built on...the sweat of many to make a few rich by selling things we all enjoy.
There may be something good about EA taking over UBiSoft. EA *does* provide dedicated servers ported to Linux (e.g. Medal of Honor, Battlefield 1942, Call of Duty). Althought, EA is usually a little late (grrr), they recognize that many game servers run on Linux platforms. UbiSoft doesn't bother.
While this is funny, it may not be practical advice since eye damage may not be immediately apparent until considerable damage is done. There are no pain receptors on the retina.
I removed all identifying items and sent it back to them (including the orig envelope) in the no postage required envelope that they (stupidly) provided. Hopefully they get enough of them it will cost them a bundle!
